On July 28, FAW Hongqi officially showed us the actual vehicle of its new pure electric large SUV, Hongqi E-HS9. The new car can be regarded as the mass production version of the Hongqi E115 concept car that completed its first domestic and overseas debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show and Chengdu Motor Show in September and November 2019. With the upcoming launch, it will become the flagship SUV model of the Hongqi brand.
In terms of appearance, Hongqi E-HS9 follows the product concept of “Chinese-style new noble and refined” design philosophy. The tall and generous front of the car reflects the family-style. Specifically, the new car uses a closed air intake grille, a waterfall-style chrome trim, and a red flag LOGO in the center of the front, showing a family-style “alpine waterfall” style. At the same time, the split-type headlights are matched with bar-type air intakes to add a bit of sportiness to the car.
Viewed from the side of the body, the overall outline of the new car also reflects the “vibrant and vivid” expression in the classic Chinese aesthetics, making the curved surface more full and smooth and look very harmonious. At the same time, the new car adds red decoration to the front wing version, with the chrome elements of the C-pillar and D-pillar and the close-spoke wheel shape, creating a good sense of luxury.
At the rear, the Hongqi E-HS9 adopts the current popular bar-type taillights. The edges on both sides are finished in a Y-shape with tail chrome trim and diffuser. In terms of body size, according to previous declaration information, the length and width of the new car is as high as 5209/2010/1731mm, and the wheelbase is 3110mm. At the same time, the new car will also provide a two-tone body, it will be available in 4/6/7-seater seat layout, and 21-inch or 22-inch wheels.
In terms of interior, the center console of the new car is equipped with an integrated large screen composed of a full LCD instrument and a center control display. The LCD screen below the center console (expected to be a touch panel that integrates air conditioning systems and other functions) creates a good technological texture. At the same time, the new car adds leather, solid wood, chrome, piano paint, and other elements to the various details of the vehicle to enhance the visual hierarchy and sense of luxury.
In terms of power, according to the official information previously disclosed, the new car will be powered by a motor provided by Jing-Jin Electric Technologies on the front and rear axles, and provide two different power versions. The lower power version of the front and rear motors has the same maximum power of 218 horsepower (160 kW), the peak torque is also the same as 350 N·m. The higher power version of the front motor has a maximum power of 218PS (160 kW) and a peak torque of 350 N·m. The rear motor has a maximum power of 333 horsepower (245 kW). Regarding the range, the car is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 92.4kWh, the maximum range of the new car is expected to exceed 500km, and the acceleration time of 0-100km/h may be less than 4s. It will use a four-wheel drive and available in 7 driving modes.
