Hongqi Guoyao: FAW Hongqi’s Luxury SUV Makes Grand Debut

The Hongqi Guoyao, formerly known as the Hongqi LS7, made its official debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. The large SUV will be offered in two variants: the six-seat version priced at RMB 1,365,800 (~US$188,476 – US$202,276) and the flagship model priced at RMB 1,465,800. This may be the most expensive SUV model for Chinese car maker so far, even more expensive than BYD’s latest Yangwang U8.

Exterior Design

The Hongqi Guoyao exudes a domineering presence with its imposing front grille, featuring the brand’s signature cascading chrome design and the Hongqi emblem at the center. The overall look exudes a sense of grandeur. As a high-end SUV, chrome accents adorn the windows and door handles, further enhancing the luxurious appeal. The vehicle measures 5695mm in length, 2095mm in width, and 1985mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3309mm.

Interior Design

Stepping inside the Hongqi Guoyao, one is greeted by a traditional luxury ambiance, characterized by an abundance of wood paneling. The door panels feature golden cylindrical armrests, adding a touch of elegance. The vehicle is equipped with a fully digital instrument panel and a large central touchscreen display. The second row boasts dual independent seats equipped with a plethora of amenities.

Powertrain

Under the hood, the Hongqi Guoyao is powered by a 4.0T V8 turbocharged engine delivering a maximum output of 265 kW (360 hp) and 500 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 9.1 seconds, and the top speed is 200 km/h.
