On June 12, the Beijing BJ30 Traveler “High-Gloss Edition” (Gaoguang Edition) was officially launched. The new model is available in two trim levels, with an official MSRP ranging from 112,900 to 139,900 RMB (approximately $15,550 – $19,260 USD). A special “super trade-in” promotion is also available, bringing the starting price down to 82,900 – 109,900 RMB (approximately $11,420 – $15,130 USD).
In terms of exterior design, the BJ30 Traveler High-Gloss Edition adopts a fresh aesthetic. The new front grille mimics the style of modern new energy vehicles, featuring body-colored trim instead of the traditional five-hole design, complemented by darkened LED headlights. The front bumper has been beefed up with body-colored accents, and the fog lights are now equipped with LED sources.
The vehicle’s dimensions remain consistent with the current model, measuring 4730/1910/1790mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2820mm. It maintains a ground clearance of 215mm, an approach angle of 25 degrees, and a departure angle of 30 degrees. The roof is equipped with luggage racks and a climbing ladder, and the vehicle now rides on larger, sportier multi-spoke wheels.
Inside, the cabin features a minimalist, modern dashboard accented by 64-color ambient lighting. The heated leather steering wheel sits in front of a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. The system supports dual-zone voice recognition, smartphone connectivity, remote control, and access to the Huawei App Store. A 50W wireless charging pad is conveniently located below the center console.
Comfort is further enhanced with the addition of heated and ventilated front seats, with the driver’s seat featuring three-position memory settings. As a five-seater, the vehicle also comes equipped with a 10-speaker HiFi audio system and a panoramic sunroof.
Under the hood, the BJ30 offers both a 1.5T internal combustion engine and a 1.5T hybrid powertrain. The 1.5T gasoline model produces 138 kW of power and 305 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT). It features a front-wheel-drive layout with a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 8.06L/100km.
The 1.5T hybrid model features an engine output of 116 kW and 235 Nm of torque. The front electric motor provides 130 kW and 315 Nm, while the rear motor has been upgraded from 55 kW to 70 kW (maintaining 135 Nm of torque). Paired with a dedicated DHT hybrid transmission and an on-demand four-wheel-drive system, it includes an electronically controlled energy center lock, four-wheel electronic traction control, and an AI-powered intelligent control system. The hybrid model also features a long-life AGM battery, which offers three times the lifespan of a standard battery.

The primary rival for the Beijing BJ30 is the Haval Big Dog (DaGou), which offers 1.5T and 2.0T powertrains. The 1.5T is the volume seller, primarily in two-wheel-drive configuration, while the four-wheel-drive versions feature center differential locks and rear axle electronically controlled mechanical tooth-embedded differential locks.
