The 2026 Chengdu Motor Show officially kicked off on August 21, marking the market launch of the all-new MG 07 mid-size sedan. The vehicle is available in seven configurations, with an official MSRP ranging from 108,900 to 159,900 RMB (approx. $15,250 – $22,400 USD). For a limited time, MG is offering a promotional price ranging from 105,900 to 156,900 RMB (approx. $14,850 – $22,000 USD). Deliveries for the 650km range version are scheduled to begin at the end of August, followed by the 845km version in October.

### Vehicle Highlights
The MG 07 features a bold new design language, highlighted by a “star-ring” full-width light bar and distinctive headlight clusters. The front end incorporates a clamshell hood design and offers a 168-liter “frunk” to maximize storage. Measuring 4,886mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,478mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825mm, it sits firmly in the mid-size sedan segment.

The side profile showcases semi-flush door handles, frameless doors, two-tone wheels, and eye-catching yellow brake calipers. The rear is defined by a full-width taillight assembly and a five-stage adjustable electric spoiler. Available exterior colors include Morello Purple, Notting Grey, Oxford Blue, Milia Pink, California Blue, and Salt Lake White. For advanced driver assistance, the MG 07 is equipped with LiDAR and utilizes the Momenta R7 world model architecture powered by a dedicated X7 self-developed AI chip.

Inside, the cabin features a wraparound design with a full LCD instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating infotainment screen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip and the “Inspiration OS.” Premium features include a zero-gravity “queen” seat for the front passenger, EC dimming panoramic roof, rear seat heating and ventilation, a multi-functional vanity station, and a 21-speaker audio system.

### Powertrain Options
The MG 07 is available in both pure electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions. The BEV model is built on an 800V platform and features front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors with outputs of 176 kW or 235 kW. Depending on the configuration, it offers battery capacities of 67 kWh or 91 kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 610 km, 650 km, or 845 km. The 610km and 650km versions utilize semi-solid-state batteries from Qingtao Energy, while the 845km version uses a ternary lithium battery from CATL.

The PHEV version pairs a 1.5L engine (82 kW) with an electric motor (152 kW). It offers a CLTC pure electric range of 245 km, a fuel consumption of 2.91L/100km in depleted mode, and a combined range of up to 1,745 km.

### Market Positioning
The MG 07 enters a highly competitive segment, facing rivals such as the Arcfox Alpha S5 and the Mazda EZ-6. Its aggressive pricing also positions it to challenge traditional internal combustion engine sedans like the Honda Civic and Nissan Sylphy.

### Editor’s Take
To meet the demands of younger consumers, MG has integrated high-end features like LiDAR and an 800V architecture into the MG 07, while offering a diverse range of aesthetic options. By bridging the gap between premium mid-size electric vehicles and entry-level compact sedans through a flexible pricing strategy, the MG 07 is well-positioned to capture significant market share. Whether this pricing meets consumer expectations remains to be seen, but the vehicle’s comprehensive feature set makes it a compelling new entrant.
