On November 22, 2019, Geely ICON was officially unveiled at the ongoing 2019 Guangzhou Auto Show, the new car was the second car born on the Geely BMA platform. It positioned the small SUV and features a new design language that the Geely had never used before.
Appearance design of Geely icon has not seen on any of Geely’s previous models. The appearance of the new car continues the design of the CONCEPT ICON concept car, it can be said that the CONCEPT ICON concept car was directly mass-produced. Its front face part abandons the family-style shield-like design style, instead using the upper and lower layered design, the bumper area is larger, the matrix design of the rounded rectangle matrix always includes the headlights at both ends. The overall shape is tough and modern.
Geely icon uses a split-line headlight group with a flatter line, the upper horizontal bar is on both sides of the LED daytime running lights and the steering light, the lower light group integrates the far and near lights to bear the main lighting effect. In addition, consumers can choose between radar, camera, rim shape and size.
The side of the car still adopts a relatively simple design style, it also features a hidden door handle design, the straight lines make the overall shape be quite tough, the C-pillars is still straight, but the blackened small windows still create popular floating roof style nowadays. In terms of body size, the new car has a length and height of 4350/1810/1615mm and a wheelbase of 2640mm. It is a standard small SUV body size.
The shape of the rear part echoes the front face, it still uses a lot of rounded rectangular design elements. The rounded rectangle shape of the bumper is consistent with the front face. The simple tail line is designed with the horizontal headlights to stretch the visual width. The taillights use figure “∞” (infinity) to display a wide strip of light, which brings a good visual effect.
For the interior, Geely icon adopts the CONCEPT ICON concept car design style, uses a regular T-shaped layout, and incorporates a large number of rounded rectangular decorative elements for stacking, the air conditioning vent, central passage, and door handles on both sides incorporate a large number of “time symbols” design elements, it is very striking contrast color two-color with simple and stylish. At the same time, Geely icon features a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 10.25-inch floating central control panel. Although the dual screen is not connected, it still has a strong sense of technology.
In terms of power, Geely icon is powered by a 1.5T three-cylinder engine with maximum power of 130kW (174hp). In the future, it will launch a 48V light-mix hybrid version, which is matched with a dual-clutch gearbox.
