On May 15, NIO officially launched its new sub-brand, ONVO. Alongside the brand launch, ONVO unveiled its first SUV, the L60. The L60’s pre-sale price is set at 219,900 RMB, with deliveries expected to begin in September. The brand Chinese name “乐道” translates to “family happiness and family management,” reflecting ONVO’s focus on family vehicles. The brand logo represents “an upward path, implying a more joyful, better, and upward-looking life journey.”

Exterior Design: A Fusion of Style and Functionality

The ONVO L60‘s exterior design is the work of former Bentley designer Raul Pires. Embracing the “WAY UP” design concept, the L60 exudes a sense of refinement and family-friendliness. The enclosed front grille, large trapezoidal air intake, and C-shaped air ducts create a visually striking presence. The split headlights feature an L-shaped daytime running light strip as an eyebrow, while the combined high and low beam headlights are ultra-thin and futuristic. The raised lines on the hood further enhance the vehicle’s muscular stance.

Sporty Silhouette and Aerodynamic Efficiency

The L60 boasts a short overhang, coupe-style roofline, flared wheel arches, low visual center of gravity, and a forward-leaning posture, giving it a strong sense of sportiness. The petal-shaped low-drag wheels and hidden door handles contribute to the vehicle’s impressive drag coefficient of Cd 0.229 (for reference, the Tesla Model Y has a drag coefficient of Cd 0.236). The L60’s roofline avoids a floating roof design, instead opting for a blacked-out window trim to enhance the vehicle’s exquisiteness. With dimensions of 4828/1930/1616mm and a wheelbase of 2950mm, the L60 is positioned as a mid-size SUV.

Sensual Rear End and Practical Tailgate

The L60’s rear end exudes a sensual appeal with its upward-turned ducktail spoiler, hinting at its performance capabilities. The tail lights depart from the popular bar-type design, opting for a slightly elongated shape. The recessed trapezoidal license plate area and black lower bumper add to the visual hierarchy. The L60 features a hatchback tailgate with a wide opening angle, facilitating easy loading and unloading of cargo. The official specifications indicate that the L60 can accommodate two 28-inch, two 24-inch, and one 20-inch suitcase, meeting the luggage needs of a family of five.

Responsive Handling and Intelligent Driving Capabilities

The L60 employs a MacPherson strut front suspension and a five-link rear independent suspension, along with an FSD variable damping suspension. The turning diameter is a mere 10.8 meters. In terms of intelligent driving, the L60 is claimed to offer a pure vision-based intelligent driving solution available upon delivery. The vehicle comes standard with 30 high-performance perception hardware components, including one 4D imaging millimeter-wave radar with a detection range of up to 370 meters, seven 8-megapixel high-definition cameras with a forward detection range of 687 meters, and four starlight 360-degree cameras that can still see clearly at low illuminance levels of 12 lux.

Comprehensive Safety Features

The L60 comes standard with a high-strength passenger compartment and underbody protection structure, as well as 2000Mpa ultra-high-strength steel, collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and 45 other safety features, ensuring the protection of occupants and the battery.

Immersive Interior and Advanced Technology

The L60’s interior adopts a wraparound comfort space design philosophy. It features a 17.2-inch 3K retina-level central control screen with a DCI-P3 color gamut, 10-bit color depth, 1.07 billion colors, and a peak brightness of over 12000 nits. The screen is also anti-reflective, anti-fingerprint, and anti-glare. With an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a minimalist center console design. At the same time, the new car will also be equipped with ambient lighting and a 13 inch HUD head up display.

Power

In terms of power, the entire range of ONVO models will be developed based on NIO’s third-generation technology platform NT3.0 and will share the battery swapping network with NIO. Specifically, the ONVO L60 will be built entirely on a 900V silicon carbide platform and will adopt a BaaS battery rental solution. It will use 75kWh and 100kWh battery packs for daily commuting, and 150kWh battery packs can be replaced by battery swapping for long-distance travel. The range will be 555km, 730km, and 1000+km, respectively.
