The Russian-branded Aurus Senat 900 has officially broken cover. Essentially a rebadged version of the Chinese Hongqi H9, this new luxury sedan marks a strategic move by Aurus—a brand originally established to produce vehicles for the Russian presidency—to capture a larger share of the domestic premium automotive market.

The vehicle is currently being manufactured at the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg, with order books now open across Russia. Pricing is set at 12 million rubles (approximately $133,000 USD) for the standard five-seater model, while the four-seat VIP version is priced at 12.5 million rubles (approximately $138,500 USD).

Visually, the Senat 900 adopts the signature Aurus family grille, but the remainder of the exterior bodywork and lighting architecture remains identical to the Hongqi H9. The interior follows a similar path, maintaining the H9’s core design language with the only notable change being a redesigned steering wheel.

The cabin is designed for comfort, with seats featuring heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Customers can choose between a standard five-seat configuration or a four-seat VIP layout, the latter of which includes individual tray tables and a dedicated control screen for rear passengers.

Under the hood, the Senat 900 mirrors the powertrain specs of the Hongqi H9. It is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine producing 248 kW (333 hp) and 450 N·m of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The sedan is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and comes standard with an air suspension system.
