Xpeng has officially unveiled the brand name for its Robotaxi business, dubbed “XPENG YOYO” in English and “小鹏悠游” (Xiaopeng Youyou) in Chinese. The company has launched a dedicated Robotaxi page on its official website alongside a new ride-hailing mini-program, with plans to open the service to the public via an invitation-code system.

The brand name “YOYO” was chosen for its global appeal, aiming to convey a sense of relaxed, effortless travel. The company emphasizes that the name is short, easy to pronounce, and maintains consistent brand recognition across different linguistic markets, positioning Xpeng for potential international expansion.

Leveraging its proprietary Turing AI chips, second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) large models, and robust AI infrastructure, Xpeng is bridging the gap between L2 advanced driver-assistance systems and L4 autonomous driving. Since the first production-ready Robotaxi rolled off the assembly line in May, the program has made significant strides. By July, the company completed a full-loop testing phase—from app-based booking to autonomous pickup and drop-off—conducting over 2,200 internal test rides. In August, Xpeng secured a remote testing permit in Guangzhou, allowing for driverless road testing.

Technically, the Xpeng Robotaxi is based on the Xpeng GX platform. It is powered by four self-developed Turing AI chips, delivering a combined computing power of 3,000 TOPS. By utilizing the second-generation VLA model, the vehicle operates without reliance on high-definition maps or LiDAR, relying instead on model generalization and a continuous data feedback loop to deploy rapidly across diverse urban environments.

The passenger experience has also been a core focus. Users can pre-set cabin temperatures and activate in-car fragrance systems via the mini-program before arrival. Inside, the vehicle features zero-gravity seats, massage functions, and a large entertainment display integrated with music and video streaming services.
