The coupe SUV model become popular in recent years. It was first designed by the BMW X6 slip-back design and became the most avant-garde design language. The coupe SUV now symbolizes the future-oriented and open consumption concept.
China vehicle brands have also begun to develop their own coupe SUV models, such as the Haval F7x, Lynk & Co 02, Changan CS85 COUPE, Geely XINGYUE and etc.. Chery’s sub-brand JETOUR has also released its own coupe SUV: JETOUR X70 COUPE.
JETOUR X70 Coupe was actually unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show last year. Chery brought its production version on 2019 Shanghai Auto Show this time, the appearance of the production version has changed significantly.
Update: JETOUR X70 Coupe started pre-sale at 15th Jan. 2020, pre-sale price range 91,000 – 129,000 yuan (~US$13,119 – US$18,597) in Chinese market, it is offered by three power combinations: 1.5T+6MT/6DCT、1.6T+7DCT.
JETOUR X70 Coupe is based on JETOUR X70, compared with JETOUR X70, the coupe version has been completely redesigned on appearance, four obvious rib line designs are used on the hood, the air intake grille is replaced by a hexagonal large-mouth grille, the black star-shaped convex shape is used as a decoration in the grille. The headlights on both sides are eagle-eyed and have a semi-circular turn signal light strip.
On the body side, it is not obvious slip-back design. The large suitcase should be an optional configuration. The roof is black with different body color. The larger five-spoke wheels have a red outer ring that looks sportier. The rear surround also uses black and silver as the decoration, it has two sides of the exhaust which is more dynamic. The body size measures at 4750/1900/1710mm, wheelbase is 2745mm, which is 30mm longer than JETOUR X70.
A large number of red elements are used in the interior. There is a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 10.1-inch central control screen with embedded design. The gear-lever and the door handle are also redesigned. The physical buttons on the central control screen are all cancelled, making the entire center console very simple.
Anyway, there is neither Haval F7x’s carbon fiber plaque materials, nor the Lynk & Co 02’s large touch screen, the interior design of JETOUR X70 Coupe is slightly moderate.
JETOUR X70 Coupe’s is powered by both Chery Acteco 1.5Liter turbo engine (check here: Chery Acteco Engine Review) or 1.6Liter direct injection turbocharged engine (check here: Chery 1.6T engine review). The 1.5liter turbo has 230N.m peak torque and maximum power of 154HP, matching with 6-speed dual clutch and 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.6T has 290NM peak torque, 194HP of max. power, matched with 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
