On March 14, 2022, BYD‘s e-platform 3.0 all new model, the Seal (Chinese name “海豹”, or Haibao meaning “seal”), finally entered the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s declaration catalog. The appearance of the new EV is far from the BYD family’s design style, it is unique. It is reported that the new car will be officially launched in April, 2022.
The new car has a body length of 4.8 meters and a wheelbase of 2.92 meters. The overall size is between BYD QIN PLUS EV and BYD HAN EV. It is expected to be released during the Beijing Auto Show in April. The front face design of the car is somewhat different from the BYD family design, and it is more simple and has the feeling of those Chinese EV startup companies. The side of the car adopts a slip-back design and is equipped with a hidden door handle. The overall appearance is very close to that of HAN EV.
In terms of power, BYD Seal provides three power versions, 150kW, 230kW and 160/230kW four-wheel drive version, and the fastest acceleration from 0-100km/h is 3.8 seconds. The battery capacity has not yet been announced. According to previous exposures, the maximum cruising range will reach 700km.
