On November 6th, AION RT, a mid-sized pure electric sedan built on the AEP 3.0 pure electric platform, was officially launched by GAC AION brand. Available in five configurations with a price range of 119,800 to 165,800 yuan, the EV offers a combined range of either 520km or 650km. Notably, the top-tier model is equipped with LiDAR and supports high-level autonomous driving without HD maps. Moreover, the vehicles are available for immediate delivery upon launch.
The exterior of the AION RT is characterized by the “Dragon” design philosophy, resulting in a more three-dimensional and curvaceous form. The streamlined body and minimalist front end, combined with dynamic air intakes and a LiDAR sensor, contribute to a lower coefficient of drag and a striking visual appeal.
The side profile exhibits a coupe-like design with a fastback rear, resulting in a smooth and rounded overall appearance. The door frames are finished in black, and the vehicle features hidden door handles. The charging port is conveniently located on the front fender. Dimensionally, the car measures 4865mm in length, 1875mm in width, 1520mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2775mm.At the rear, the elongated taillights create a wide, horizontal visual impact when illuminated. The vehicle’s rear tapers towards the back, contributing to a more dynamic design. With a drag coefficient of 0.208Cd.
The interior adopts a minimalist design philosophy, featuring an 8.88-inch floating instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen. Powered by the latest ADiGO 5.0 system, the vehicle offers a user-friendly, tablet-style interface and a wide range of built-in apps.
Powertrain-wise, the AION RT utilizes CATL’s lithium iron phosphate batteries, offering two versions with 55.1kWh and 68.1kWh 2.0 Blade Batteries respectively. The electric motors produce a maximum power of 150kW and 165kW, enabling a range of 520km and 650km respectively. With a combined energy consumption of 11.7kWh/100km and 11.9kWh/100km, the vehicle supports 400V silicon carbide 3C fast charging. It can charge from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes, providing an additional range of 160km or 200km in 10 minutes.
