Changan E-Pro, a pure electric compact SUV, officially launched today. The new car as a whole draws on the main design of the new Changan CS15 fuel model, and adjusts in details. Its NEDC operating range is 401km (249miles), price starts at 119,900 yuan (~US$17,040)

In terms of appearance, the overall shape of Changan E-Pro is similar to that of the fuel version, it has added unique design elements of the new energy model, such as the closed front grille design and the exaggerated three-stage air intake design below, which makes the car look very sporty, but the “air inlets” on the sides of the front face are for decoration only and have no ventilation effect. In addition, the car’s fast-charging port is designed in the front closed grille badge.

From the side of the body, a waist line runs from the front wheel eyebrows to the taillights, making the car look more compact. At the position of the traditional fuel filler on the rear fender of the car body, a slow charge port is designed. This interface also supports the function of a mobile power station. It can transfer 220V voltage to household appliances through the connection adapter. In terms of body size, the new car is 4135/1740 / 1630mm long and wheelbase of 2520mm.

From the rear, the new car’s horizontal lines are richer, which further enhances the car’s layering. The rear of the car uses a thicker black trim panel, which is linked to the blackened taillights on both sides to visually extend the car’s lateral width. In addition, in order to create a three-dimensional sense, the taillights have a prominent design, which makes the whole look more stylish.

In terms of interior, the new car continues the latest family-style design, the center console is biased to the driver’s side, so that the driver can more easily control. The car uses a 7-inch LCD instrument panel + 10.25-inch center control screen design, which has a strong sense of technology. At the same time, the new car is also embellished with fluorescent yellow color elements at the air outlet of the through-type air conditioner. With a yacht-like blocking bar shape, the new car looks quite intentional.

In terms of power, Changan E-Pro is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 161 hp (120 kW) and a peak torque of 245 N · m. The power battery uses a ternary lithium battery with a capacity of 48.3kWh. Under NEDC conditions, it can provide a 401km cruising range for the vehicle. In terms of charging, the official said that it takes 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% in the fast charge mode; it takes 8.7 hours to charge the power battery from 0 to 100% in the slow charge mode.
