Xiaomi has officially announced that the Xiaomi YU7 GT has set a new Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record for SUVs, clocking in at 7:34.931. This performance bests the previous record holder, the Audi RS Q8 Performance, by nearly two seconds (7:36.698).

The record-breaking vehicle was the Xiaomi YU7 GT equipped with a “Track Package.” While Xiaomi has yet to release the full specifications of this package, visual evidence from the run shows the removal of rear seats, the installation of a roll cage, and the use of lightweight racing seats for the driver. The specific tire compound used remains undisclosed. Notably, the vehicle was piloted by Xiaomi’s chief test driver, Ren Zhoucan, who becomes the first Chinese driver to receive official Nürburgring lap time certification—a milestone for both the driver and the Chinese automotive industry.

The standard Xiaomi YU7 GT is scheduled for official market launch on May 21. Positioned by the manufacturer as a “sports-grade SUV suitable for long-distance travel,” the vehicle is already arriving at dealerships for display. Compared to the standard YU7, the GT variant features a comprehensive aerodynamic kit, including revised front and rear bumpers, aggressive side skirts, wider wheel arches, performance tires, and various carbon fiber components. These modifications result in a vehicle that is 10mm longer, 21mm wider, and 23mm lower, contributing to a more planted and aggressive stance.

Inside, the cabin has been overhauled with a performance-oriented aesthetic. Alcantara upholstery is featured extensively on the door panels and seats, complemented by carbon fiber trim on the center console and the backs of the sport seats. The vehicle also introduces a bespoke cockpit UI, featuring exclusive display themes and a dedicated center console interface. Additionally, the infotainment system appears to include a unique, GT-exclusive soundtrack.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi YU7 GT utilizes a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The front motor produces 288kW, while the rear motor delivers 450kW, resulting in a combined system output of 738kW (1,003 horsepower). The powertrain is supported by a 101.7kWh ternary lithium battery, offering a maximum CLTC-rated range of up to 705km, depending on tire configuration.
