Geely has officially launched the Xingyao 6 EF in China, with introductory limited-time prices ranging from 76,800 to 96,800 yuan ($10,600 to $13,400 USD), while official guide prices are set between 86,800 and 106,800 yuan ($12,000 to $14,800 USD). Positioned as a compact sedan, the vehicle showcases Geely’s new-generation methanol-electric hybrid technology, offering flexible operation on methanol, electricity, or gasoline, with a CLTC pure electric range of 230 km and running costs as low as 0.2 yuan per kilometer.

In terms of exterior styling, the Xingyao 6 EF adopts Geely’s ripple aesthetic design language, highlighted by a luminous waterfall grille featuring 29 unique waterfall-style bars. Flanking the grille are integrated high-and-low beam headlights with a projection distance of up to 176 meters. The side profile incorporates sharp character lines, flush door handles, and exclusive model badges. Dimensions-wise, the sedan measures 4806 mm in length, 1886 mm in width, and 1490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2756 mm. The rear features a full-width smoked light bar complemented by Geely’s English lettering. Buyers can choose from four exterior paint colors: Silk Silver, Jade White, Obsidian Black, and Ink Gray.

Inside, the cabin introduces a Winter Warm Brown interior color scheme aligned with the Geely Galaxy family design. It is equipped with a 14.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster powered by the Flyme Auto 2 cockpit system. The core computing power is driven by a 7nm Longying No. 1 self-developed automotive chip, supporting Flyme Link, HiCar, and CarLink connectivity. It also features built-in AutoNavi 810 navigation with lane-level visual guidance, traffic light recognition, and an AI voice assistant. Physical buttons are retained on the center console for quick blind operation alongside a 50W wireless charging pad.

The vehicle features multi-layer memory foam seats with a dual-zone support structure. The front seats offer heating and ventilation functions, while the rear backrests are fixed at a 28-degree angle. The cabin utilizes eco-friendly water-based materials, comes standard with a CN95 cabin air filter, provides 27 storage compartments, and boasts a 609-liter trunk capacity.

For intelligent driving, the Xingyao 6 EF utilizes the Qianli Haohan H3 pure vision system powered by the Horizon Journey J6M chip with 128 TOPS of computing power. It supports City NOA and Highway NOA, covering obstacle avoidance, automatic lane changes, and ramp navigation. Higher-trim variants also include a 540-degree transparent chassis panoramic camera system.

Powering the new sedan is a methanol plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5-liter methanol engine and an electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum power output of 93 kW and is paired with a Aegis lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The dedicated methanol engine achieves a thermal efficiency of 48.15% and incorporates high-pressure direct injection and high-energy ignition technologies, enabling stable cold starts in extreme temperatures as low as -40°C.

The Xingyao 6 EF accelerates from 40 to 80 km/h in 3.4 seconds and from 80 to 120 km/h in 4.6 seconds. It offers a CLTC pure electric range of 230 km and a charge-depleting methanol consumption rate of 6.7L/100km. Gasoline can also be utilized for long-distance driving to eliminate range anxiety. Emissions from the methanol powertrain consist primarily of water and carbon dioxide with no exhaust odor. Furthermore, the chassis features an AI-powered comfort digital tuning system that dynamically adjusts suspension parameters based on road condition databases.

Editor’s Commentary:
Geely has spent 20 years researching methanol technology, investing billions and deploying over 60,000 methanol vehicles globally with a cumulative mileage exceeding 25 billion kilometers. The Geely Galaxy Xingyao 6 EF has already surpassed 6,000 units in commercial fleet deployment, covering ride-hailing, taxis, and public service fleets across northeastern China.

The vehicle features a flexible methanol-electric hybrid powertrain that can run on methanol, electricity, or gasoline. Methanol can be refueled at standard fuel stations in just three minutes, providing a comprehensive range of 1,250 km. Methanol and gasoline can be mixed freely in a single 70-liter tank, delivering a combined range of up to 1,880 km under CLTC conditions without winter range degradation. Running costs are exceptionally low at approximately 0.2 yuan per kilometer, saving over 60% compared to traditional fuel cars. Geely offers a 15,000-kilometer maintenance interval, a lifetime warranty on the core electric components for first-time owners, and a 6-year or 150,000-kilometer vehicle warranty. Recognized globally as a safer and cleaner fuel alternative, methanol combustion emits only water and carbon dioxide.
