The Haima Motor, which has been quiet for a long time, has always lacked new models in the SUV and sedan fields. Although the previous Haima S7 is considered to be a good-reputation model in SUV models, its sales are really daunting. On January 23th 2019, the new SUV of the Haima codenamed “SGOO” was officially unveiled, the official name is quite interesting: Haima 8S, means the acceleration time is 8 seconds, which is totally differ to other names from Haima Motor (such as Haima S7, Haima S5…)
Haima 8S is based on the Haima HMGA platform (HaimaGlobal Architecture). The length, width and height of Haima 8S are 4565×1850×1682mm and the wheelbase is 2700mm. The biggest highlight is the “BOOST BLUE Power” 1.6-Liter turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 143kW, a peak torque of 293Nm, and an acceleration time of 0-100km/h only 7.8S (to prove, Haima Motor held a test and invited China and foreign racing driver to test in V1 Tianjin International Circuit, the 7.8S is the record from V1 Circuit).
Haima Motor held a press conference at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, and its new model, the Haima 8S, was officially unveiled. HAIMA 8S has a similar family element as the second generation Haima S5. For example, both cars use a star-shaped air intake grille, split-type headlights are also a popular design choice at the moment, highlight the sportiness. As well as the suspended roof design, the LED through-type taillights , matched with the dual-exhaust layout, it is very dynamic with fashion.
For the interior, Haima 8S tends to be younger, the three-position multi-function steering wheel, the flying wing center console, the car uses a lot of fur material and soft plastic material, and is good at decorating the details with chrome trim, the intention is create a strong sporting atmosphere.
In terms of power, Haima 8S is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine named HMA GA16-YF, matching 6AT gearbox, maximum power 191HP, maximum torque 293 Nm, acceleration of only 7.8 seconds per 100 km, and meet with the China-VI(CN-6) emission standard. According to another report, Haima 8S will also provide 1.2T hybrid and 1.6T + 7-speed dual clutch two power systems.
As the flagship model of the Haima family, Haima 8S can be said to carry too many expectations. However, public appeal of Haima brand is not very strong in China market, it can only improve its competitiveness by improving product strength, Haima 8S can still gain a market share of its own if the pricing is good.
