Great Wall Motor and Vietnam’s Thanh An Group Officially Launch CKD Plant Project

On September 18, it was officially announced that Great Wall Motor and Vietnam Thanh An Group Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for CKD assembly cooperation, laying a solid foundation for deeper cooperation between the two parties in the future. This collaboration will deepen Great Wall Motor’s “ecological overseas” strategy, enhance its competitiveness in the Vietnamese market through localized production, and provide Vietnamese consumers with a wider range of vehicle options.”

Great Wall Motor and Thanh An Group have signed a strategic partnership to expand their presence in Vietnam. Executives from both companies attended the signing ceremony and discussed future plans. Great Wall Motor, which entered the Vietnamese market in 2023, will begin local assembly in Vietnam by the end of 2025. This move is expected to strengthen the company’s position in Southeast Asia and provide Vietnamese consumers with a wider range of vehicles.

It has been reported that Great Wall Motor already possesses three complete vehicle manufacturing bases in Thailand, Brazil, and other regions, as well as multiple KD plants globally. In January of this year, Great Wall Motor and the Malaysian listed group company EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) officially concluded a CKD cooperation agreement. This marks Great Wall Motor’s first CKD project in the ASEAN region.

Great Wall Motor released its production and sales data for August earlier this month. The company produced 97,874 vehicles in August, representing a year-on-year decrease of 16.1%, with passenger vehicle production declining by 15.7% to 84,371 units. In terms of sales, Great Wall Motor sold 94,461 vehicles in August, a year-on-year decrease of 17.21%, with passenger vehicle sales falling by 16.9% to 80,668 units. Overseas sales for August reached 40,454 units, while cumulative sales from January to August totaled 280,139 units. New energy vehicle sales in August were 24,844 units, with cumulative sales from January to August reaching 181,363 units.
