GAC-Honda has finally launched its strategic model built on a brand-new pure electric architecture – Honda P7. The P7 was first unveiled as early as 2024, but it was not officially launched until April 15, 2025. This long waiting period has led to many doubts in the industry about GAC Honda’s electrification progress. From a product positioning perspective, the P7 is a mid-size SUV built on Honda’s pure electric e:N Architecture W, with dimensions of 4750×1930×1625mm and a wheelbase of 2930mm. This size falls between the Tesla Model Y and the NIO ES6. GAC Honda P7 offers a total of 3 models, with a price range of 199,900-249,900 yuan. The new car is positioned as a mid-size SUV, powered by pure electricity, and offers rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. The rear-wheel drive version has a CLTC range of up to 650 kilometers, and the all-wheel drive version has a CLTC range of 620 kilometers.

In terms of exterior design, the GAC Honda P7 adopts a wide-body, low-slung sporty style. The overall design combines a sense of futurism and practicality, reflecting Honda’s rethinking of design language in the electric era. At the front, the P7 features a full-width LED light strip and slender C-shaped headlight clusters, complemented by a large-sized smoked black surround, creating a strong visual impact. Particularly noteworthy is the adoption of a new flat brand logo on the new car. This design detail not only enhances the modernity of the front fascia but also symbolizes GAC Honda’s brand determination to transform towards electrification and intelligence.

Inside, the P7 retains Honda’s brand elements while significantly enhancing the sense of technology and luxury. The center console area adopts a waterfall-style dual-screen layout, consisting of a 12.8-inch central control screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel. Select high-end models are also equipped with a 9.9-inch LCD instrument panel and a 41.9-inch HUD head-up display system. Commendably, the P7 has not blindly followed the “buttonless” trend but has retained essential physical buttons. This pragmatic design approach ensures operational convenience during driving and reflects Honda’s “human-centered” design philosophy. The steering wheel features a traditional three-spoke flat-bottom design with dynamic stitching details, balancing sportiness and practicality.

The P7 is equipped with a 90kWh high-energy-density ternary lithium battery pack supplied by CATL, utilizing CTP (Cell to Pack) integrated technology to significantly improve volume utilization. This battery system can achieve a combined CLTC range of 650 kilometers.

In terms of motor and electric control systems, the P7 offers two power configurations: single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The dual-motor all-wheel drive version has a front motor power of 150kW (peak torque 350N·m) and a rear motor power of 200kW (peak torque 420N·m), resulting in a total system power of 350kW. This allows the P7 to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds. This performance level approaches that of high-performance electric vehicles, fully satisfying users’ pursuit of driving pleasure. The single-motor rear-wheel drive version prioritizes range performance and is more suitable for users who primarily commute within the city.

Regarding charging and energy management, Honda P7 supports 150kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.

The vehicle is equipped with the Honda SENSING 360+ safety super-sensing system, which adds three new functions to the original Honda SENSING 360: Highway Driving Assist (Honda CoPilot Pro), Driver Anomaly Response System, and Door Opening Collision Warning. In terms of hardware configuration, the system utilizes a combination of 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 1 front-view camera, supporting L2+ level assisted driving functions. Specific functions include: Advanced Lane Keeping Assist, Intelligent Parking Assist, Driver State Monitoring, and Curve Speed Control.

In summary of its competitive advantages, the core selling points of the P7 can be categorized into three aspects:
- Safety Redundancy: Features like a dual-backup braking system, high-strength body structure, and 13 airbags provide comprehensive safety protection.
- Practical Space: A 2930mm wheelbase and high space utilization thanks to Honda’s “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum” (MM) philosophy make it particularly suitable for family users.
- Driving Experience: Performance capable of 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds, a 50:50 weight distribution, and precise handling delivered by the front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension.
