At the just-opened 2019 Geneva Motor Show, AIWAYS, an intelligent new-energy vehicle company from China, brought its two new EVs, one is the production model of AIWAYS U5, positioned in a compact electric SUV, the other one is named Gumpert Nathalie, it is a Fuel cell electric super run. According to the official, AIWAYS U5 will be launched in the European market by the end of this year, the electric super run Gumpert Nathalie will also be mass-produced later.
AIWAYS claims it is an intelligent new-energy vehicle located in China. It was founded by Fu Qiang, former president and CEO of Volvo China. The headquarters and technical center are located in Shanghai. And a wholly-owned subsidiary Gumpert AIWAYS in German. Roland Gumpert is the executive director, AIWAYS also set up a forward-looking technical laboratory in Detroit, USA, its manufacturing base in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province China.
At present, AIWAYS has two product lines, one is Gumpert-led electric super-running, the other is self-developed products based on MAS platform, including SUV, MPV and hatchback. AIWAYS ‘s first production car, AIWAYS U5, was launched in Shanghai on November 29th, 2018. It is scheduled to be mass-produced in September 2019 and delivered in the fourth quarter. AIWAYS U5 is powered by a 63kWh battery pack and has a total traveling range of 285miles (460km). The AI battery pack can upgrade the battery life to 348miles(560KM).
The AIWAYS U5 debut in Geneva, which means it will be introduced to European market at the end of this year.
Gumpert Nathalie, built by Roland Gumpert, the father of Audi quattro, uses methanol fuel cell technology based on proton exchange membrane technology to produce hydrogen from methanol by catalytic reaction with a conversion rate of 45%. It is equipped with four-wheeled four-motor independent full-time four-wheel drive technology. The maximum power of a single motor is 102kW, the maximum torque is 230N.m, and it is equipped with a two-speed reducer. The official data is accelerated by 0-100km/h for 2.5 seconds and the top speed is 300km/h.
