The Buick Electra (Zhijing Shijia) Wanjia Edition has officially launched in China, priced at 419,900 RMB (approximately $58,000 USD). This new entry-level model aims to lower the barrier to entry for the flagship SUV lineup by reducing the price by 20,000 RMB compared to the previous base model. To achieve this lower price point, the Wanjia Edition omits several high-end features, including the air suspension, continuous damping control (CDC), active predictive suspension, LiDAR, and the advanced Momenta intelligent driving system.

In terms of dimensions, the Wanjia Edition measures 5,260 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,835 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. Compared to the existing models, the width has been slightly adjusted while other dimensions remain consistent.

The vehicle retains the robust powertrain of the higher-tier trims. It is equipped with a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system paired with dual front and rear electric motors. The system delivers a total power output of 462 kW and a peak torque of 775 Nm. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. The vehicle offers a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 224 km and a comprehensive range of 1,320 km. It also supports fast charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes, with a fuel consumption of 7.3L/100km under depleted battery conditions.

Editor’s Note: The introduction of the Wanjia Edition is a strategic move by Buick to capture a broader market segment by offering a more accessible price point. While the removal of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and air suspension might deter tech-focused buyers, the core performance metrics—specifically the powerful 1.5T plug-in hybrid powertrain—remain untouched, making it a compelling option for those prioritizing space and performance over cutting-edge autonomous driving features.
