Xiaomi has officially unveiled a demonstration video for its new home-use automotive charging robotic arm, promising a fully hands-free charging experience. The system is designed to communicate directly with the vehicle, enabling automatic plug-in and unplugging without any manual intervention.

The robotic arm and the charging pile are integrated into a compact, streamlined housing with a width of just 152mm, making it suitable for installation even in narrow parking spaces. This design addresses the common inconvenience of traditional wall-mounted chargers, which require users to manually handle the charging cable and connector.

While robotic charging technology has been explored by other manufacturers—such as Li Auto and HIMA—Xiaomi’s approach focuses on a compact, user-friendly home solution. HIMA’s current implementation involves floor-mounted units with a larger footprint, while Li Auto utilizes an overhead rail system to serve multiple parking spots.

Key highlights of the Xiaomi system include:
– **Compact Footprint:** The ultra-thin design allows for easy installation in standard residential parking spots.
– **Seamless Integration:** The arm communicates with the vehicle to automatically open/close the electric charging port cover, facilitating a fully automated charging cycle.
– **Ecosystem Connectivity:** Leveraging Xiaomi’s “Human-Car-Home” ecosystem, users can monitor charging status via XiaoAi smart speakers or control the charger remotely through smartphones, tablets, and TVs.

It remains to be seen whether this charging arm will be exclusive to Xiaomi vehicles or if it will offer compatibility with other brands. We will continue to monitor for further updates.
