JAC unveiled its Hunter EV pickup truck at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. The electric truck is based on JAC’s new wide-body pickup platform and has a CLTC-rated cruising range of 500 km (310 miles).
Exterior Design
JAC Hunter EV features an updated design with a closed-off grille, a futuristic “mech-warrior” style front fascia, flowing turn signals, and segmented headlights. The truck measures 5.62 meters long, 1.965 meters wide, and 1.92 meters tall. It has a 1.81-meter cargo bed and a 205mm ground clearance. The Hunter EV also comes with 18-inch closed-wheel rims for a more youthful and dynamic look.
Interior Design
The interior design of the Hunter EV is inspired by the Forbidden City, with a horizontal and vertical T-shaped symmetrical structure that creates a spacious and comfortable riding experience. The instrument panel is made of high-end plastic and soft-touch materials, and it is matched with camel gray brushed panels and window-style piano paint air vents. The overall style is more passenger-oriented. The new car is equipped with a 7-inch LCD color sports instrument panel with two dynamic UI skins, Oriental Auspicious Dragon and Arctic Blue Light. The car is also equipped with the Zhi Ling 3.0 car-machine system, intelligent voice, dual-mode navigation, OTA upgrade, super wireless fast charging, 220V power supply, electric seats, automatic constant temperature air conditioning, and atmosphere lights.
Powertrain
The Hunter EV is powered by a dual-motor four-wheel drive system, with the front and rear motors producing 70/160kW of maximum power and 176/342N·m of peak torque, respectively. The truck is equipped with an 88.02kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack that provides a CLTC-rated cruising range of 500 km (310 miles).
Competition
The Hunter EV will compete with other electric pickups in the Chinese market, such as the Great Wall PAO EV and the Changan Land Tourer EV.

The JAC Hunter EV is a promising new entry in the growing electric pickup truck market. It has a stylish design, a spacious and comfortable interior, and a long range. It will be interesting to see how it fares against the competition when it goes on sale later this year.
