Hongqi officially launched its new battery-powered mid-size sedan, the Tiangong 05, on February 26th. The vehicle is available in four models, with prices ranging from RMB 159,800 to RMB 185,800 (~US$22,000 – US$25,600). The Tiangong 05 is positioned as a pure electric mid-size sedan equipped with advanced intelligent driving capabilities. The new car offers two CLTC range options: 550km and 750km, with an 850km range version to be launched in the future. Additionally, customers can enjoy five exclusive benefits.

Exterior Design:
The Tiangong 05 largely retains the design of its concept car, featuring a closed front fascia and the iconic long, horizontal Hongqi logo for high recognizability. The blackened headlight clusters, with their slender design, and the through-type air intake at the lower front, flanked by triangular air ducts, enhance the vehicle’s sporty appearance.
Side and Rear Profile:
The sedan’s side profile showcases smooth and full lines, with an upward sweeping waistline and multi-spoke wheels accentuating its sporty style. The rear is fitted with Y-shaped taillights for a striking visual impact, and a blackened rear surround further enhances the sense of depth. The vehicle measures 4820mm in length, 1915mm in width, and 1480mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2900mm.
Interior and Features:
Inside, the Tiangong 05 features a 15.6-inch central control screen, a flat-bottomed dual-spoke steering wheel, and a two-tone interior design aimed at a younger demographic, aligning with the style of emerging electric vehicle manufacturers. Configuration highlights include a 360-degree panoramic imaging system, heat pump air conditioning, wireless phone charging, AR-HUD augmented reality head-up display, and a four-zone voice recognition control system. The advanced intelligent driving version includes features such as automatic parking, trajectory reversing, lane-keeping assist, and automatic lane change assist.
Powertrain:
The launched models are equipped with a rear-mounted single motor on a 400V platform, delivering a maximum power of 286 horsepower. The CLTC range options are 550km and 750km. A future 850km range version will be introduced, featuring a 900V platform and dual-motor all-wheel drive, with a maximum power of 408 horsepower and a CLTC range of 850km.
