Chevrolet Menlo (Chinese name “畅巡”, Changxun), a brand new pure electric compact sedan has officially launched in China, this is also the first EV from Chevrolet exclusive for Chinese market. It is offered by 4 trims, the price range after subsidies is 159,900 to 199,900 Yuan (US$22,759 – US$28,453). According to the official, Chevrolet Menlo is positioned in a urban coupe sedan, appearance was taken from the FNR-X concept car. It is is equipped with a 52.5kWh ternary lithium battery and a new generation of the intelligently connected system. The NEDC cruising range is 410km (249miles).
Actually the Chevrolet Menlo is inherited from Buick Velite 6 EV, anyway, the overall look is based on Chevrolet FNR-X concept car, It has a strong advanced sports style.
In appearance, Chevrolet Menlo ‘s front face does not take on a completely closed design like an ordinary electric car. It keeps a part of the grille shape. The air ducts on the lower sides of the new car have an upward shape, and with the many-sided air intakes below the center, it looks sharp. In addition, Chevrolet Menlo’s fast and slow charging ports are located at the front and the bumper on the right side. It will take 40min charging from 0-80% in fast charge mode, and the battery charge from 0-100% will be 8 hours in slow charge.
On the side of the body, the new car uses a partitioned middle design with high ends for a sporty feel. The new car uses an hidden A / B / C pillar to create the effect of floating roof design. The dimensions of the vehicle body are 4665 * 1813 * 1538 mm, and the wheelbase is 2660 mm. Chevrolet Menlo uses an improved MacPherson front suspension and a multi-connected independent back suspension. If we talk about interior design, Chevrolet Menlo is as much similar as Buick Velite 6 EV. The overall feel is very simple. The floating central control screen adds a sense of technology to the vehicle. The black and white colour-matching design also makes the interior look layered.
In terms of power, the new car uses a permanent magnet synced motor with a maximum power of 150PS and a peak torque of 350Nm. At the same time, the new car uses a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 52.5kWh, and its travelling range under the NEDC complete operating conditions is 410km.
