Xpeng P7 Road Test Photos Exposed in Guangzhou, To be Delivered in the 2nd Quarter of 2020

Xpeng(Xiaopeng) P7 test car was found on the road test in Guangzhou China. Xpeng P7 is the first all-electric sedan from Xpeng Motors, it is also the 2nd EV after the pure electric SUV Xpeng G3 from this company. Xpeng P7 has been released at 2019 Shanghai Auto Show and opened for pre-sale (pre-sale price is 328,000 yuan (~US$47,435) in China). Xpeng Motors said that P7 will be delivered in the second quarter of 2020.

Judging from the spy photos, this should be a pre-production car, leaving only a small area sticker at the front and rear end. Xpeng P7 is 4900mm long and has a wheelbase of 3000mm. The slender streamlined body is matched with the hatchback shape, plus a very short front and rear suspension design. This is the most distinctive appearance of Xpeng P7.

The P7 does not have the muscle lines and bionic design of Xpeng G3. Instead, it uses a variety of simple surfaces and lines to create design sense.

According to the information released by Xpeng Motors, the P7 will be equipped with dual-motor (front & rear) four-wheel drive system. The comprehensive range is expected to exceed 620 km (385miles), the acceleration time of 0-100 km is expected to be 4 seconds. In addition, Xpeng Motors’ self-developed XPILOT 3.0 automatic driving assistance system will be also available on it.

Key spec comparison between Xpeng P7 & Tesla Model 3

In terms of intelligent hardware, Xpeng P7’s smart interconnect chip and autopilot chip come from two suppliers – Qualcomm and NVIDIA. Qualcomm’s 820A car-level chip provides a smooth Andriod experience for the P7; NVIDIA DRIVE Xavier can achieve 30 trillion operations per second, but consumes only 30 watts, 15 times more energy efficient than the previous generation.

Based on Xpeng’s newly developed smart electric vehicle platform SEPA architecture, Xpeng P7 combines hardware, software, algorithms and low-level infrastructure to create a new platform for intelligent driving and continuous upgrade. It is reported that the SEPA platform architecture has a 100-megabit Ethernet electronic and electrical topology, the independent central gateway supports the information exchange of multiple communication data, the internal controller is 100% networked, vehicle OTA capability can be easily realized.

Xpeng P7 will be put into operation at the production base of Xpeng Motors in Zhaoqing (Guangdong China). The Zhaoqing Base is constructed in three phases. The first phase of the project will have a total investment of 4 billion yuan, the completed capacity will be 100,000 vehicles per year. The new car has been pre-sold at 2019 Shanghai Auto Show and is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2020.
