The Dongfeng Mengshi X700 has officially opened for pre-sale, marking a strategic shift for the brand as it moves from niche hardcore off-roaders into the mainstream family SUV market. With a pre-sale price range of 249,800 to 289,800 yuan (approximately $35,500 to $41,200 USD), the X700 is positioned as a “light off-road” boxy SUV designed for both urban commuting and weekend adventures.

The vehicle features a rugged, boxy silhouette infused with modern technological elements. The front fascia is defined by a bold, straight-line design, highlighted by a full-width LED daytime running light strip and an illuminated Mengshi brand logo. To support its advanced intelligence, the roof is equipped with a LiDAR sensor, a key indicator of its high-level autonomous driving capabilities.

Measuring 5,035 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,890/1,910 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm, the X700 offers impressive off-road geometry, including a 37.5° approach angle, a 38.3° departure angle, and a maximum ground clearance of 328.8 mm. It also boasts a wading depth of 800 mm, making it highly capable for light off-road excursions.

Inside, the X700 debuts the HarmonySpace 6 cockpit, featuring dual 15.6-inch 2.5K high-definition displays. The cabin is further enhanced by a 21-speaker HUAWEI SOUND system and the “Xiao Yi” intelligent agent, which integrates navigation, vehicle control, and entertainment. The next-generation HUAWEI XHUD provides a massive 74-inch AR-HUD, projecting navigation directly onto the road to keep the driver focused.

The vehicle is equipped with Huawei’s latest ADS 5 intelligent driving system, utilizing 27 sensors, including a high-precision LiDAR and 4D millimeter-wave radar. This setup supports advanced features like urban and highway navigation assistance, as well as specialized off-road navigation modes.

Powering the X700 is a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration. The engine produces 113 kW, while the front and rear motors deliver 190 kW and 215 kW, respectively, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.93 seconds. Users can choose between two battery capacities: 51.46 kWh (285 km CLTC range) and 68.10 kWh (360 km CLTC range).

The chassis features a front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension, integrated with the “Panshi” 2.0 system, which includes MRC magnetorheological dampers and dual-chamber air springs with six-level height adjustment.

**Editor’s Note:** The pre-sale of the Mengshi X700 signals the brand’s transition from a niche hardcore off-road manufacturer to a mainstream player. As the first model in the X-series resulting from the strategic partnership with Huawei, the X700 integrates a full suite of Huawei technologies—including ADS 5, HarmonySpace 6, and advanced cloud connectivity—into a versatile SUV. With plans to launch three more X-series models over the next three years, Mengshi is clearly focused on expanding its footprint in the family smart-mobility segment, a development worth watching closely.
