The new Mengshi M817, a large SUV from the Dongfeng Mengshi brand, has officially commenced deliveries. The model, which was previously launched with five trim levels, is priced between 299,900 and 399,900 RMB (approximately $41,300 – $55,000 USD).

In terms of exterior design, the new Mengshi M817 retains the brand’s signature “Hero Soul Aesthetics 2.0” design language, ensuring high visual recognition. The rear profile is well-defined, featuring the iconic cross-shaped “Sword Pointing to the Sky” taillights. It also includes an external storage box, enhancing both aesthetics and outdoor utility. The vehicle measures 5,100mm in length, 1,998mm in width, and 1,899mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,005mm. It is available in six exterior colors: Ulan Orange, Gezong Black, Yulong Silver, Mingsha Yellow, Qinling Green, and Kunlun White.

Inside, the cabin adopts a minimalist and rugged style. It features a flat, structured dashboard, a dual-spoke multi-function steering wheel, and a large floating central touchscreen. The vehicle is equipped with the HarmonyOS Cockpit Off-Road Edition (HarmonyOS 6.0), which includes an exclusive intelligent off-road agent for route planning. Interior color options include Xia Ying Orange, Ying Song Black, Danxia Brown, and Jinchuan Red. For intelligent driving, the M817 utilizes Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5.0 full-stack solution, featuring an 896-line dual-optical path LiDAR. It debuts the Off-Road NCA (Navigation Cruise Assist), enabling seamless navigation from urban streets to rugged trails, supported by Huawei’s CAS 5.0 all-dimensional collision avoidance system.

Under the hood, the new model introduces an upgraded 2.0T plug-in hybrid system. The 2.0T engine boasts a thermal efficiency of 45.5% and is paired with dual electric motors, delivering a combined output of up to 598 kW or 715 kW, with peak torque reaching 1,175 N·m or 1,241 N·m. This represents a significant performance boost over the outgoing model, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.2 seconds and 4.26 seconds, respectively.

Battery options include a 51.9 kWh CATL LFP battery or a 62.5 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery, offering CLTC pure electric ranges of 215 km and 301 km, and combined ranges of 1,365 km and 1,450 km. Thanks to an 800V architecture and 6C supercharging, the 30%-80% charge can be completed in as little as 9.6 minutes. The vehicle also retains a 1.5T plug-in hybrid variant with 505 kW of power. Off-road capability is bolstered by nine driving modes, a 900mm wading depth, intelligent E-locks, front and rear differential locks, and the “Panshi” (Rock) Chassis 2.0 with dual-chamber air suspension and CDC. Additionally, it features rear-wheel steering with a 20-degree range, a 5.2m turning radius, and an integrated fully automatic drone system.
