On July 21, Kaiyi Auto (former Cowin Auto) officially released the new concept EV i-XA 01. The new car is positioned as a mid-size coupe SUV with a pure electric dual-motor layout. According to official disclosures, its mass production version is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2024.

Most of the cars previously launched by this Chery-backed maker are based on Chery’s prototypes. As the first concept car after the Kaiyi brand changed its LOGO and design language, the design style of Kaiyi i-XA 01 represents the future styling foundation of the family. The overall visual effect is very sharp. It is reported that the modern design language of the new car is derived from the top Italian designer Lowie Vermes.

From the side, the new car emphasizes the muscularity of the SUV model through the raised front and rear wheel arches. The concept car uses an exaggerated side-by-side door design, but it is expected that the mass-produced car will continue the door shape. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the concept car are 4850/1998/1566mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2900mm.

At the rear of the body, the shape of the taillights echoes with the headlights, and the style is the same. The design of the flying disc brake lights is unique, and it has a futuristic technology atmosphere. The tail lines have a clear sense of hierarchy without losing the overall sense of smoothness. However, as a pure electric concept car, the new car is still designed with a total of four exhausts on both sides.

The overall interior design is dominated by straight lines. The central control screen does not stand above the central console, but is positioned low. The lower console is hollowed out, and there is storage space below. At the same time, the new steering wheel adopts a racing-style design, but it is expected that the interior style of the new car will become more practical after mass production.

In terms of power, the concept car will be equipped with a front and rear dual motor layout, with a combined maximum power of 330Kw and a combined peak torque of 600N m. The new car will be equipped with a ternary lithium battery and provide two different battery life options. The acceleration from 0-100km/h is only 5.3. second.
