
On July 29, 2019, 2019 Cowin(Kaiyi) X5 was officially launched. It launched a total of 9 models. Among them, 6 models meet the China-V emission standard, price ranges 78,900-104,900 yuan, the others meets the China-VI emission standard, price starts from 78,900 to 96,900 yuan. According to the official, the new model has been upgraded on 24 items based on the outgoing models, and powered by 1.5TCI engine to meet the CN-6b emission standards.


In terms of appearance, 2019 Cowin X5 still maintains its family-style front face design. The front air intake grille has an inverted trapezoidal design. At the rear end, the wide taillights on both sides echoes the headlights, the black coating between the taillights adds to its own recognition. Cowin X5 has a length and height of 4506/1841/1740mm and wheelbase of 2610mm.

For the interior, 2019 Cowin X5 has a black and brown-red contrast color design, the overall texture has improved. It is understood that the car will provide 9.7-inch central control LCD screen (supports for Bluetooth phone, smart navigation, voice control, mobile phone interconnection, reversing image, etc.), panoramic sunroof, all models come standard with tire pressure monitoring, ESP, keyless entry, push-button starter.
In terms of power, 2019 Cowin X5 will be powered by a 1.5T engine (CN-5) code named SQRE4T15 with maximum power of 150 hp (112 kW). In terms of transmission, it is matched with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT transmission. The models meet CN6B emission standard are powered by a 1.5T engine model code named SQRE4T15C with maximum power of 154 hp (115 kW). In terms of transmission system, it only provides a 5-speed manual transmission.
About Cowin Auto

Cowin Auto was once a sub-brand of Chery Holding, it formerly known as Wuhu Cowin Automobile Co., Ltd., was officially established in 2014, it was a brand new automobile brand under Chery Holdings. In 2013, Lu Jianhui, one of the founders of Chery, took the former Chery Cowin project team to establish the Cowin Auto at Jiangbei Industrial Park at Wuhu Anhui, later it has jointly invested in the construction of the three parties: Anhui Jiangbei Development Co., Ltd., Chery Commercial Vehicle (Anhui) Co., Ltd. and Wuhu City Construction Investment Co., Ltd.
Cowin Auto itself did not manufacture vehicle, all vehicles are manufactured by Chery Factory, Cowin Auto was only responsible for R&D and sales. Therefore, most of the models of Cowin Auto were produced at the Wuhu Jiangbei base, Anhui province China, but on December 15, 2017, its original name Wuhu Cowin Automobile Co., Ltd., was renamed as Yibin Cowin Automobile Co., Ltd., that’s the production base of Cowin Auto was transferred from Wuhu to Yibin, Sichuan province China.
In January 2018, Chery Holding transferred its 51% stake in Cowin Auto to Yibin Automobile Industry Development Investment Co., Ltd., and Sichuan Yibin Push Group Co., Ltd., which accounted for 50.5% and 0.5% respectively. Sichuan Yibin Push Group is a sub-group company of Wuliangye Group – a Chinese famous white wine manufacturer.
On January 7, 2019, Cowin’s first car at the Yibin New Base in Sichuan, the Cowin X5, was officially launched.
