BYD HAN was finally listed today (On July 12) in China. The new car launched a total of 4 variants, including 3 pure electric models, and 1 plug-in hybrid version (HAN DM), the price range is 219,800-279,500 yuan (~US$31,409 – US$39,940) after government’s comprehensive subsidies. BYD Han features a four-door coupe-style body design as a whole and has been upgraded on the basis of the Dragon Face family design language. In terms of range, the range of two ultra-long-range models are 605km, and the range of the four-wheel-drive high-performance model is 550km under NEDC standard; BYD HAN DM’s NEDC range in pure electric mode is 81km. In addition, BYD officials said that based on 5G technology, BYD Han EV will launch a 5G version vehicle.

From the appearance point of view, BYD HAN has upgraded the Dragon Face family design to make it look more refined. The Han EV uses a closed front face design, making the entire contour resemble the curved design of a sports car. Although the front face uses penetrating chrome decorative strips, the lines are elegant and smooth at a glance. At the same time, the middle part of the front face trim is also engraved with the Chinese “HAN” logo, combined with the long and narrow LED headlights, which further enhances the recognition of the front face.

The length, width, and height of BYD Han DM are 4960/1910/1495mm and the wheelbase is 2920mm. Compared with the Han EV, the body length is 20mm shorter.

In terms of power, the two ultra-long-range HAN EV models (entry and middle trim level models) are equipped with a front E-motor, maximum power is 222 horsepower and a peak torque of 330 Nm. Its 0-100km/h acceleration time is 7.9 seconds; four-wheel-drive high-performance version has added a rear E-motor with a maximum power of 272 horsepower and a peak torque of 350 N·m on the basis of the front motor. Its 0-100km/h acceleration time is 3.9 seconds. In terms of range, all three EV models use BYD’s self-developed lithium iron phosphate blade battery with a battery capacity of 76.9kWh. The NEDC range of the two ultra-long-range models is 605km, and the NEDC range of the four-wheel-drive high-performance version is 550km. It is worth mentioning that the high-performance models are also equipped with a set of Brembo high-performance braking systems.

BYD Han DM is currently offered in only one model, which is equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 192 horsepower and a motor with a maximum power of 244 horsepower and a peak torque of 330 Nm. The combined maximum power is 436 horsepower and the peak torque is 650 Nm. Its 0-100km/h acceleration time is 4.7 seconds. In terms of range, the car is equipped with a ternary lithium battery with a battery capacity of 15.2kWh. In pure electric mode, the NEDC range of the car is 81km.
