Foton Motor’s Flagship Pickup Tunland E7 Is Ready In China Market

Tunland E7 pickup from Foton Motor was officially launched recently. The new car is positioned in the middle to high-end pickup truck. It is now the flagship pickup of Foton Motor. A total of 8 models were launched, priced at 102,800-198,800 yuan (~US$14,854 -US$28,726) in China market. The new car has made some adjustments on both the exterior & interior design based on the Tunland E5, and the power system has been upgraded. The design concept is more inclined to a “passenger” pickup.

The appearance of Tunland E7 is basically the same as that of the current Tunland E5. The car can also be considered as an upgraded version of Tunland E5. The front face is large and the inverted trapezoidal grille is lined with three golden decorative strips in the horizontal direction (The strips on E5 is silver). The front headlights are connected to the grille to enhance the overall feeling of the front end.

From the side view, the size of TUNLAND E7 is not small, the length, width and height are respectively 5310/1880/1860mm, the wheelbase is 3105mm, the number of seats is the traditional “2+3”, and the taillights are at the two corners. Truck bed size: 1520/1580/440mm, curb weight:1820kg.

The design of the interior is obviously more technical and fashionable than the previous Tunland S-6AT model. The central console 10.1 display is much bigger than the one on Tunland S.

Tunland E7 uses mechanical gear lever, the left side of the gear lever are the buttons for adjusting the driving mode.

The Tunland E7’s seat is also quite fashionable. It adopts a “black and white” color scheme and adds a lot of white stitching. The main driving seat also supports 6-way adjustment. The truck bed of pickup will take up a lot of space, but the rear row seat of Tunland E7 is still very spacious.

In terms of configuration, Tunland E7 is equipped with headlight delay off, auto headlight auto, intelligent voice interaction system, car networking, reversing image, and automatic air conditioning.

In terms of power, Tunland E7 pickup offers three power combinations, 2.0L diesel, 2.8L diesel and 2.0L gasoline engine. The AUCAN(OUKANG) FG20 2.0L gasoline engine has maximum power of 160kW (214hp) and peak torque of 320Nm, the transmission is matched with a 5-speed manual and ZF’s 6-speed AMT gearbox. It is also available for economy, sports, snow driving mode. The 2.0L diesel engine of AUCAN(OUKANG) FD20 has maximum power of 110kW (147hp) and peak torque of 320Nm, the transmission is matched with 6-speed manual transmission. The Cummins ISF 2.8L diesel engine has maximum power of 130kW (174hp) and peak torque of 365Nm, the transmission matches the 6-speed AMT gearbox. In addition, the new car is also equipped with the US BorgWarner transfer case and the Dana rear axle, available in two-wheel drive / four-wheel drive version.

About AUCAN(OUKANG) FG20 Gasoline Engine

The AUCAN(OUKANG) FG20 engine has high performance, excellent fuel economy and high reliability. In fact, this engine is not strange. Foton Sauvana is powered by this gasoline engine. It is also available on the Borgward BX5 and BX7 with different tuning.

This engine is designed and developed by Foton Motor’s R&D center in Stuttgart, Germany. It is developed on the basis of the third generation EA888, named E-POW, with GDI direct injection, roller rocker arm, double balance shaft and other structural design.

About AUCAN(OUKANG) FD20 Diesel Engine

AUCAN(OUKANG) FD20 engine was released in August 2018. The diesel engine is available in 2.0T and 2.5T. The 2.0T version is mounted on Tunland E7, it has smaller displacement and stronger power and better fuel economy.

The new AUCAN diesel engine has German gene, a product of the German Industry 4.0 manufacturing process, which combines the durability of commercial vehicles with the quietness, comfort and low fuel consumption of passenger cars. The engine uses in-cylinder direct injection technology, twin-turbo combustion systems, 2000bar Bosch fuel systems, IROX low-friction bushings and VGT. It is in line with the current trend of small displacement and high torque of diesel engines in the global pickup truck market.
