Beijing Hyundai has officially filed for the upcoming the upcoming IONIQ V, a new electric vehicle tailored specifically for the Chinese market. Positioned under the IONIQ sub-brand, which emphasizes a blend of “global quality and Chinese intelligence,” the vehicle is built on Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP electric platform.
The exterior design was spearheaded by the Hyundai China Design Center. The IONIQ V features a multi-faceted, three-dimensional body design characterized by sharp, futuristic lines. It incorporates a low-drag aerodynamic profile and distinctive “dimensional light blade” split headlight clusters.
In profile, the car is equipped with frameless doors and V-styled wheels. It measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,470 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, placing it firmly in the mid-size sedan segment. The rear design mirrors the front with “dimensional star-track” taillights.
Inside, the cabin adopts a “nebula wrap-around” design. The centerpiece is a massive 27-inch ultra-thin 4K central touchscreen, complemented by ambient lighting and a “Cyber Eye” head-up display (HUD) system. The vehicle integrates advanced intelligent interaction powered by Baidu’s Ernie Bot and Volcano Engine, while utilizing Momenta’s autonomous driving solutions and Qualcomm’s flagship cockpit chipset. Powering the IONIQ V is a pure electric powertrain featuring 800V high-voltage fast-charging technology. It is equipped with a single motor available in two output configurations: 140 kW (approx. 188 hp) and 168 kW (approx. 225 hp). The vehicle has a top speed of 165 km/h and utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CATL.
