Haval has officially released the first teaser images of its upcoming flagship SUV, a rugged ‘boxy’ model built on the brand’s new Guiyuan platform. The company has also launched a naming contest for the vehicle, with official nominations and final voting scheduled to begin on April 10.

In terms of design, the SUV features a bold, squared-off front fascia. A narrow front grille seamlessly connects to rectangular headlights with rounded corners, accented by two horizontal chrome strips that enhance its rugged aesthetic. The lower air intake mirrors this rectangular theme and incorporates additional chrome detailing, adding a touch of refinement to the vehicle’s tough exterior. Notably, the roof is equipped with a LiDAR sensor, suggesting the inclusion of an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS).

From the side, the vehicle showcases a flat roofline paired with sharp body creases and pronounced wheel arches, creating a muscular and sturdy silhouette. The addition of roof rails not only adds visual depth but also increases utility. At the rear, the SUV features vertical taillights with intricate internal structures, providing a distinct lighting signature. The vehicle also utilizes a side-hinged tailgate and features a classic rear-mounted spare tire.

While official powertrain specifications have yet to be released, the vehicle is expected to share technology with the Wey V9X, which is also based on the Guiyuan platform. This platform features an 800V high-voltage architecture, a 2.0T dedicated hybrid engine producing 175kW, dual electric motors, and a 4-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). We will continue to monitor this story for further updates.
