It appears that Xiaomi’s upcoming SUV project is no longer a secret. Recent reports suggest that the new model will be named the “Xiaomi Skynomad N90.” Industry insiders indicate that “Skynomad” (Xuntian) may serve as a new sub-brand for the tech giant, with trademark filings for the name—including in the “transportation” category—dating back as early as 2023.

The Xiaomi Skynomad N90 is widely believed to be the production version of the previously codenamed “Kunlun” project. Speculation suggests this series will encompass two to three models, with a staggered release schedule spanning from 2026 to 2027. The flagship model is expected to debut between the second half and the end of 2026.

Based on recent spy shots, the vehicle boasts a substantial footprint, with an estimated length exceeding 5,200mm. Departing from the sleek, aerodynamic profile of the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7, the new SUV adopts a bold, boxy, and rugged design language that projects a commanding presence. The front fascia features a closed-off grille design with integrated lighting units on either side. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor is clearly visible, signaling the inclusion of an advanced intelligent driver-assistance system. Additionally, the vehicle is expected to offer a roof tent option for outdoor enthusiasts.

At the rear, the taillights are arranged vertically, likely connected by a dual-strip light bar. The roofline extends into a subtle spoiler housing the high-mount brake light. Details on the tailgate suggest a “clamshell” (split-opening) design, with the license plate housing integrated into the lower section.

Under the hood, the Kunlun series is expected to utilize a high-capacity extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain. Reports suggest a massive battery pack exceeding 70kWh, potentially offering a pure electric range of 400–500km. Furthermore, the vehicle is anticipated to feature advanced chassis technology, including rear-wheel steering and an air suspension system.
