The opening of the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show is just around the corner. Recently, WEY officially released the renderings of its new concept car. The new car will be positioned as a large SUV and is expected to become the latest flagship model of the WEY brand. It is understood that it will be officially unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show.
WEY (Chinese say “魏派”) is auto marque founded in 2016 and originated from the English surname of Jack Wey, the founder of Great Wall Motor. It is the high-end automobile brand of China SUV Enterprise Great Wall Motor. WEY currently produces VV7, VV5 and new energy series models.
WEY has released three very dark teaser images, but with some trickery we managed to see a bit more. The second picture, showing the rear, is interesting. It shows a rectangular red light under the bumper, and another one in the cabin. Not sure yet what these are.
The new car will be positioned above the WEY VV7, so it will likely be called the WEY VV9. No word yet on power but the most likely option is the same powertrain as in the WEY P8 SUV-coupe; a PHEV with 335 hp and 524 Nm.The wheels in one of the teaser images look very EV-ish, so perhaps WEY is going to surprise us all with something full-electric.
