On August 10, Haval Cool Dog (Chinese name “酷狗” or spelling “Ku Gou”) was officially launched. A total of 4 new models were launched, with a price range of 123,800-149,800 yuan. As a new compact SUV based on the Lemon platform, Haval Cool Dog still retains some traces of Havel Big Dog (Havel Dargo) in appearance. The round headlights are very recognizable. The interior adopts “cross” LED daytime running lights and integrates steering lights are more innovative. The front grille is connected to the headlights, and the interior is arranged in a dot matrix, enhancing the sense of sophistication.
The naming of models under the Great Wall Motors brand has always been interesting. Cool Dog is another brand-new model named after Haval Dargo. Haval Cool Dog’s predecessor is the X-Dog concept car, and now this car has its own name – Cool Dog after user voting. Compared with Haval Dargo, the new car is smaller in size and more accessible to the people. Great Wall positioned it as a 3/4 scale “cool” SUV. According to the definition of the Great Wall Motors, 2/4 represents an urban SUV, and 4/4 is a hard-core off-road SUV such as the TANK 300. This 3/4 SUV shows that the new Cool Dog takes into account the two attributes of urban commuting and off-road.
From the aspect of its appearance, the new car is really stylish, unfortunately, it’s nothing new. If you’ve heard of the Ford Bronco, chances are you’ll think so too. Ford Bronco is a hard-core off-road vehicle, it is very popular in North America. Its positioning is very similar to the Chinese TANK 300, and the price is affordable and outstanding. In terms of appearance, the two cars have many similarities in addition to the consistency of the overall appearance.
