Recently, the CPCA (China Passenger Car Association) released the sales list of SUV in Chinese market in December 2019. Data show that in December 2019, SUV sales were 991,000 units, an increase of 2.5% year-on-year and 12.4% month-on-month; cumulative sales for the year (2019) were 9.182 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.6%. Although the sales volume of SUV models has decreased year-on-year, the market performance of SUV models is even better than the average sedan model in view of the downturn of the China auto market.
In terms of sales of specific models, there is no doubt that Haval H6 is still the No.1 in SUV segment, once again ranked first in SUV manufacturers with an overwhelming advantage in cumulative sales of 365,700 units. However, the crisis of the Haval H6 has also gradually become apparent, in 2019, its sales volume decreased by 17.2% year-on-year in 2018, which is significantly lower than the average decline in the Chinese auto market.

And SAIC Volkswagen Tiguan ranked second with cumulative sales of 249,400 vehicles, as a once king in the Chinese SUV market, Tiguan also seems to be overwhelmed by the multiple attacks of other models, its sales have fallen compared to 2018 It was 12.5%.
What is unexpected is that Nissan X-Trail actually ranked third with an annual cumulative sales of 221,600 units, and increased by 3.9% year-on-year. The Nissan brand, as a Japanese model, is relatively low-key in China, however, being able to win its own place in such a highly competitive SUV market also shows that X-Trail has a very strong product power and model competitiveness.
In the top-selling list, there are 7 Chinese vehicle brands, such as GWM Haval, Geely, Baojun as well as Changan Auto, this is also showing the strength and brand reputation of Chinese vehicle models are getting higher rank, although most of them are due to the cheap prices.
