GAC-Toyota, Toyota China, and Pony.ai’s Robotaxi business joint venture – Zhuifeng Intelligent Technology (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. – has been officially registered. The company plans to introduce a fleet of thousands of bZ4X L4-level unmanned Robotaxis, and provide unmanned Robotaxi travel services in major first-tier cities through Pony.ai‘s operation platform.
The bZ4X Robotaxi concept car was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, showcasing its production-grade appearance and product concept in advance. The model is planned to be equipped with Pony.ai’s seventh-generation autonomous passenger car system solution, with the goal of realizing the large-scale commercialization of unmanned driving products.
As the prototype of the first Robotaxi model, GAC-Toyota bZ4X provides the most solid guarantee for the commercialization of autonomous driving. bZ4X Robotaxi will be equipped with the PCS (Pre-Collision Safety System) function of the L2-level T-PILOT intelligent driving assistance system, which is developed based on 20 billion kilometers of intelligent assisted driving “zero accident” data. In case of emergency, it can work independently of the autonomous driving system. It further improves the stability and reliability of the vehicle and can better guarantee the stable operation of autonomous driving.
The establishment of the joint venture will further promote Pony.ai and Toyota’s continuous innovation, explore a sustainable, replicable, and scalable commercial path for autonomous driving, and help the development of China’s and even the world’s intelligent and networked automobile industry enter a new stage.
