The EVs are a new vehicle trend in the industry compared to traditional gasoline vehicles. More brands are entering into the segment and launching different cars to attract the public. Major EV brands like Lixiang, Xpeng, and NIO have released the sales report for July 2021. The brands see a massive jump in numbers compared to the previous months. You will not imagine a gigantic leap in numbers in the sales report. Lixiang has only one model, and it managed to become the top one in the chart.
Lixiang
Lixiang has delivered a total of 8589 Lixiang One in July. It is the first time that Lixiang delivers more than 8000 vehicles in a month. There is an increase of 251.3% compared to July 2020. Also, it’s worth noting that there is an 11.4% increase when compared to June 2021. The brand has sold a total of 38,473 units in the year 2021. At the same time, the total sales of Lixiang One are at 72,340. The numbers seem pretty surprising since Lixiang is facing the issue of leakage of mercury. Recently, some owners found leakage of mercury, and it damaged their vehicles. The owner is also hospitalized due to the leak. Although, we are not sure where the mercury came from. We hope that the issue gets fixed in the future by the brand.
Xpeng
Xpeng also records an increase in sales by selling 8040 units. Like Lixiang Auto, this is the first time Xpeng crosses the 8000 marks. They recorded a rise of 22% compared to June 2021 and a 228% increase when compared to July 2020. Xpeng has delivered a total of 38,778 units in the year 2021. Xpeng P7 recorded a sale of 6054 units, while Xpeng G3 sold nearly 1986 units. To date, Xpeng has sold 66476 units of its P7 sedan and G3 SUV. The Xpeng P7 is getting more popular among the tech-savvy people of the country. Xpeng said that the sales would increase with the introduction of the new Xpeng G3i & Xpeng P5. The deliveries for the G3i will start in September 2021. At the same time, Xpeng P5 will be introduced in Q3 of 2021, and delivery will begin in Q4 of 2021. NIO
While NIO recorded a decrease in sales and is less compared to Lixiang Auto and Xpeng Motors, the brand has delivered 7931 units in July 2021. It has delivered 8083 vehicles in June 2021. The brand has sold 49,887 units in 2021, which is higher than both Lixiang and Xpeng. The contribution to sales from each model of NIO is as follows. NIO ES8 delivered 1702 units, while NIO ES6 delivered 3,669 units, and finally, the NIO EC6 delivered 2,560 units. The reason for the low volume of sales is that it is not that the NIO vehicles aren’t efficient like the ones from Lixiang and Xpeng. In addition to this, the price reduction of the Tesla Model Y has also affected the sales of NIO. We understand from the sales figures that the newer models are more accepted than the older ones.
