On September 20, 2024, Denza, a leading electric vehicle brand, officially launched its flagship model, the Denza Z9GT. The new vehicle is available for a limited-time price range of 334,800 to 414,800 yuan, offering five variants based on different powertrain and configuration options. Positioned as a large sedan, the Z9GT is available in both battery powered EV and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
At the end of 2023, Denza announced its plan to launch eight new models over the next three years, including two flagship sedans. One of these sedans is designed to rival the Porsche Panamera, and today, we’re witnessing the launch of that very model: the Denza Z9GT. A few years ago, such a claim might have been met with skepticism. However, the landscape has changed dramatically, with numerous domestic flagship models now offering world-class experiences. Let’s delve into the static aspects of the Denza Z9GT.
The Z9 GT’s front fascia presents a striking departure from other Denza models, characterized by what the company terms the “Solar Corona” design. The slender headlights and daytime running lights flow seamlessly into the body, creating a clean yet dynamic visual. Moreover, the pure electric and plug-in hybrid variants feature distinct lower bumper designs.
The taillights deviate from the common bar-type design, and their internal light sources reflect the Z9 GT’s even-numbered and symmetrical design philosophy. When illuminated, they offer a highly distinctive visual signature. Additionally, the rear emblem is also designed to light up.
Measuring in at 5195 (5180) × 1990 × 1480 (1500) mm with a 3125 mm wheelbase, the Z9 GT showcases a sporty front end. The “GT” moniker, standing for “Grand Tourer,” not only signifies performance but also highlights the vehicle’s luxurious attributes.
The Z9 GT’s interior design doesn’t offer significant departures from previous models. The T-shaped center console and triple-screen setup share strong similarities with the Denza N7. The steering wheel is wrapped in fine leather and offers a luxurious feel. It supports four-way electric adjustment and features physical controls on the steering column for convenient operation. The design of the steering wheel is subjective, but the dual 50W wireless charging pads in the lower center console, which automatically descend during charging, add a touch of ceremony. The rear electronic gear selector features a diamond-cut design, exuding both elegance and sophistication.
The vehicle is equipped with 33 intelligent driving sensors and features the latest BAS 3.0+ system as standard, enabling a comprehensive suite of autonomous driving functions. The initial launch will include highway pilot, automatic parking, AEB, and valet parking. Additional features such as city pilot and highway blowout stability control are scheduled for a late-2024 rollout, followed by Easy-Park, road preview, and extreme elk test capabilities in Q1 2025.
The Denza Z9 GT is available in both EV and plug-in hybrid variants, all equipped with a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system and the “Yi-San-Fang” (e³) intelligent vehicle control platform. The pure electric version delivers a combined motor output of 710 kW, while the plug-in hybrid version offers 640 kW. The plug-in hybrid variant is also equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine producing 207 hp (152 kW). Top speeds are rated at 240 km/h for the pure electric and 230 km/h for the plug-in hybrid. The plug-in hybrid offers a maximum range of 1101 km (201 km on electric power alone), while the pure electric all-wheel-drive variant has a range of 630 km. The Z9 GT is equipped with an air suspension system that allows for adjustable ride height and stiffness.
