The top model is also equipped with the Yunnian-P intelligent hydraulic body control system, and the power system is composed of a 1.5T engine and dual front and rear motors.

On August 16th, the Leopard 5 (Chinese spelling “Bao 5” or “豹5”), a mid-sized SUV under Fang Cheng Bao brand (a sub-brand from BYD), was officially unveiled. This is the first model from this brand. The new car adopts a brand new “Leopard Aesthetics” design language, built on BYD’s new DMO super hybrid off-road platform, and is expected to be equipped with the Yunnian-P intelligent hydraulic body control system, mainly targeting the off-road vehicle market. According to previous information, Leopard 5 may be sold for around 400,000 yuan in the future and will be delivered within the year. In the future, the official will also launch more modified products.

In terms of appearance, the Leopard 5 adopts a square design style, with matrix headlights and a narrow front grille, creating a good visual hierarchy. At the same time, the new badge is placed in the center of the grille and integrated with the horizontal spokes, making it very coordinated overall. In addition, the car has a wild protective panel design under the surround, showcasing a hardcore aura.

The side of the car is slender and sturdy, with a large amount of horizontal lines used to create a slender visual sense. At the same time, its roof tends to be flat and matches the roof luggage rack, which not only meets the headroom inside the car, but also enhances the vehicle’s functional expansion. In addition, the new car will have good ground clearance and approach angles.

From the rear, the square body is paired with protruding wheel arches at the front and rear, as well as an externally mounted spare tire, giving a very rugged visual effect. At the same time, the horizontally opening tailgate and the vertical door handle on the right further highlight the unique style of the car. It is worth mentioning that the official stated that the tail light group of the car adopts an electrode ring buckle design, creating a good recognition.

The interior of the new car creates a sense of luxury, using a large amount of leather wrapping. The application of multiple LCD screens is in line with the current trend, and the car also has a large number of physical buttons, making operation more convenient. It is reported that the car will also be equipped with BYD’s latest in car information system.

The interior of Bao 5 continues its tough style, with a total of triple screens in the center console. In the center is a 15.6-inch 2.5K high-definition multimedia screen, with a 12.3-inch instrument screen in the driver’s seat and a 12.3-inch multimedia entertainment screen in the passenger seat. The overall interior design of Bao 5 is based on the concept of “latch”, symbolizing connection and uniqueness, meaning strength and safety, and echoing the appearance.

In terms of power, the new car is powered by a four-wheel drive system consisting of a 1.5T engine and front and rear dual motors. The peak power of its motor is: 200kW in the front and 285kW in the rear, and the maximum net power of the engine is 135kW. Adding 92 # gasoline is enough, which is very tough off-road. The total power of the entire power system is 505kW, with a total torque of 760 N.m. The official acceleration time from 0-100km/h is 4.8 seconds.

In addition, the new car is equipped with a 31.8kW · h Blade Battery, which supports 100kW DC fast charging, 30% to 80% charging takes only 16 minutes, and AC slow charging power is 6.6kW. It also supports 6kW high-power external discharge and V2V vehicle discharge rescue function. In addition, the maximum power of the Leopard 5’s in situ power generation function can reach 20kW, combined with an 85L ultra large fuel tank, the comprehensive range performance of the entire vehicle reaches 1200 kilometers.

The selling point of Leopard 5 is more about its powertrain. According to the official introduction, Leopard 5 is the first model with BYD’s new DMO super hybrid off-road platform, which is expected to be equipped with the Yunnian-P intelligent hydraulic body control system. Meanwhile, the new car will have two motors and three differential locks. The Leopard 5 will be a “vertical” engine model, which can make more room for the Yunnian system. It can be said that it combines almost all the advantages that we can think of, similar to BYD’s another luxury brand Yang Wang. The new car will also have a comprehensive range of 1200 kilometers.
