On December 9, 2022, BYD new medium-sized SUV model in its Ocean series, the Frigate 07, was officially launched. The new electric vehicle is offered by a total of 6 models, the subsidized price range is 202,800 to 289,800 yuan. The new car is equipped with BYD super hybrid technology and provides three range versions, namely 100KM model equipped with DM-i, 205KM model and 175KM four-wheel drive model equipped with DM-p.
In terms of appearance, the new car features a design language similar as other Ocean series models such as Destroyer 05. The front face is inspired by the ripples of the ocean. The center grille is designed like a vase, with a multi-spoke horizontal grille. In terms of detailed configuration, the 205KM and 175KM models of the Frigate 07 are equipped with front grille lights and D-pillar energy indicators, and based on this, a rich combination of light language is created. Among them, the D-pillar energy indicator light can cooperate with the wave swirl taillights to create a welcoming effect when the vehicle is opened and locked.
In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4820/1920/1750mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2820mm. The doors use hidden door handles, and the B-pillar and C-pillar of the body feature a black hidden design. The headlights extend a waistline, run through the entire body, and connect with the taillights. The entire taillights are also a bar-type design, and the interior of the taillights incorporates a three-dimensional wave shape. In addition, all Frigate 07 series are equipped with mobile phone NFC car keys, which not only support Android devices, but also support iPhone and Apple Watch.
In terms of interior, BYD Frigate 07 features cloud gray interior color matching. The car has a lot of leather materials, the design of the doors on both sides is very unique, and the decorative design elements similar to waves are more three-dimensional. The vehicle seat also reflects the beauty of streamlined design, providing 20 degrees and 11 gears of seat back angle adjustment. In terms of intelligent configuration, the new car is equipped with a 15.6-inch self-adaptive rotating suspension pad as standard, and has a built-in new DiLink intelligent network connection system. And the 5G fast link function sound system adopts Dynaudio, which has as many as 12 speakers and is equipped with Dynaudio SDVC noise masking technology.
In terms of power, BYD Frigate 07 provides DM-i version and DM-p four-wheel drive version. The two major power systems both use Xiaoyun-plug-in hybrid dedicated 1.5Ti engine with a maximum power of 102kW, of which the maximum power of the two-wheel drive version is 145kW; The four-wheel drive version adopts a newly developed rear-drive three-in-one assembly. The maximum total power of the dual motors is increased to 295kW, and the maximum total torque is 656N m. It is officially announced that its 0-100km/h acceleration time is only 4.7 seconds.
BYD Frigate 07 offers three pure electric cruising range versions, namely the 100KM model equipped with DM-i, the 205KM model and the 175KM four-wheel drive model equipped with DM-p. The 205KM model has a comprehensive battery life of over 1200km. All new cars are equipped with DC fast charging ports as standard. The 100KM model supports a maximum fast charging power of 40kW, and the 205KM and 175KM models can reach a maximum of 75kW. It only takes 20 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. In addition, all new cars are equipped with VTOL mobile power stations as standard, and the external discharge power of the 205KM and 175KM models is as high as 6.6kW.
