BYD announced cooperation with Hino, extending the business to new energy commercial vehicles


On April 23, today, BYD announced that it has signed a strategic business alliance agreement with Hino Motors Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Hino), focusing on the cooperation to develop pure electric commercial vehicles (BEVs). Previously, BYD has established a JV in manufacturing passenger cars with Toyota.

According to the agreement, both parties will accelerate the development of pure electric commercial vehicles to provide customers with the highest quality products. At the same time, the two sides will take the opportunity to cooperate in the development of pure electric commercial vehicle products, fully combining the technical and experience advantages of the two parties in the field of pure electric commercial vehicles, and carry out in-depth cooperation in retail and other related businesses to promote the popularity of pure electric commercial vehicles.

Since the world’s first batch of commercially operated pure electric buses K9 was put into operation in Shenzhen in 2011, its operating footprint has exceeded 300 cities in more than 50,000 units at more than 50 countries, and the cumulative sales of pure electric buses (more than 10 meters) rank first in the world.
