CNHTC VGV U70 PRO was officially launched on May 26. The new car is positioned as a medium-sized 7-seat SUV with a more stylish design. The official guide price range is 89,800 yuan to 115,800 yuan.
Speaking of CNHTC(China Heavy Duty Truck Group, Sinotruk)’s passenger car series, CNHTC passenger vehicles have little sense of presence in the Chinese local market. CNHTC is an automobile manufacturer producing trucks or other heavy duty vehicles. In 2021, SITECH DEV and CNHTC officially reached a strategic cooperation, the two parties will focus on product research and development, supply chain management, manufacturing, and sales channels. In the same year, CNHTC acquired part of Weichai Motor, while CNHTC and Weichai held 60% and 40% of Weichai Motor respectively, since then, Weichai Automobile (VGV) has been controlled by CNHTC and is mainly responsible for the SUV and pickup business.
CNHTC ‘s VGV brand has launched few models. It launched its first SUV model U75PLUS last year, and later, it also launched a four-door mid-size UX7 pickup. The U70 PRO launched this time is actually facelift of the U70. The size is almost the same as that of the U70. The product is positioned as a medium-sized SUV, providing a total of 3 models of 5-seat and 7-seat versions.
Compared with the U70, the major change on VGV U70 PRO is the front face, which is outlined with very tough and relatively complex lines, but compared with the current design of new energy models in the Chinese market, the appearance is still old and conservative. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4825/1870/1691mm, and the wheelbase is 2800mm.
The changes in the interior are mainly in the shape of the center console, which is equipped with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument. There are still physical buttons under the screen for easy operation. In addition, the car also has a three-spoke steering wheel and a yacht-style electronic gear lever.
In terms of power, the new car is powered by a 1.5T engine with a maximum power of 115 kilowatts and a peak torque of 215 Nm. The transmission system will be matched with a 6-speed AT gearbox respectively.
