BAIC-SENOVA was founded in the 1990s as the Swedish luxury car brand Saab, which was later acquired by BAIC. The word “SENOVA” first appeared in the Hong Kong Automobile Magazine and is the Hong Kong translation of the Swedish luxury car brand Saab.
In 2009, BAIC successfully acquired Saab’s core intellectual property for USD 200 million, which once changed China’s passive situation of simply swapping the market for technology and practiced a new technology development route. At the 2012 Beijing International Auto Show, BAIC officially released the M-trix mid-to-high-end sedan platform with 100% independent intellectual property rights.
