Denza, a brand of BYD and Daimler finally launched its latest EV, the Denza X production version at the 2019 Guangzhou Auto Show. Denza X offers two models, the pure electric and plug-in hybrid, each model has launched 4 models, the official guide price range is 319,800-375,800 yuan (~US$45,461 – US$53,441) and 288,900-319,800 yuan (~US$41,069 – US$45,461). Denza X features a more sci-fi design concept, it is also a 7-seater mid-size SUV.
In fact, Denza X is the mass production version of Denza Concept X concept car released by Denza. It is also shared with BYD Tang at the core technology level, but the design is highly integrated with the ideas of Daimler Group designers. Compared with BYD Tang, it looks fashionable and trendy, although Denza X has two models with different power combinations, they are completely the same in terms of overall vehicle body and some details.
The front face of Denza X features many can design elements from Mercedes-Benz models, especially the bar-type LED daytime running lights and headlights, this design concept actually borrows from the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the bar-style front bumper is also very Mercedes-Benz-like, but the shape of the lower air intake surrounded by chrome parts is somewhat unique, anyway, the shape of the entire front face is very stylish and avant-garde.
The side lines of Denza X are relatively smooth, the waist lines cleverly outline the muscles of the front and rear wheel arches to shape the sporty feel of the entire vehicle. The length, width, height of the body size is 4890mm / 1950mm / 1725mm, which is similar to the size of BYD Tang, the wheelbase reaches 2820mm, it is exactly the same. In addition, the new car will also provide 265/40 R22 or 255/50 R20 tire specifications.
The shape of the rear part is round and full. Among them, the bar-style tail light group and the capital letter “X” with strong design sense are the most eye-catching. In addition to greatly improving the overall design aesthetics of the tail, it also increases the recognition of Denza X.
In terms of interior, the horizontal feel of Denza X is highly similar to that of BYD. Fortunately, thanks to the design of the “three-round” air-conditioning air outlets on the front floor, it brings back some Mercedes-Benz design elements. The whole interior is mainly decorated with light colors and wood grain, which is visually very classy and warm, the interior features a three-spoke steering wheel, full LCD instrumentation and a rotatable large-size floating central control LCD screen. It is expected that the system kernel may be optimized based on DiLink.
The electronic gear lever is adopted under the central control screen. Compared with the Denza 500, Denza X has a larger change. Behind the gear lever is a multimedia control area, while physical buttons are distributed around it. In addition, Denza X is equipped with a variety of wheel styles, panoramic sunroof, door handles with silver bright color trim, front camera, rear camera, dual-color left exterior mirror with camera, etc.
In terms of configuration, Denza X features full-speed adaptive cruise system, lane keeping, intelligent identification of traffic signs, intelligent switching system for near and far lights, lane departure warning system, blind spot assistance system, automatic emergency braking system (with pedestrian recognition and pedestrian protection functions , 360 ° high-definition panoramic penetrating 3D imaging system. In addition, Denza X also has the function of external discharge.
In terms of power, Denza X pure electric version is divided into front-wheel drive and four wheel drive, total four models. The front-drive models are equipped with motor of maximum power of 180kW (245Ps) and peak torque of 330N · m. Four-wheel drive models has maximum power of 360kW (489Ps) and peak torque of 660N · m. The battery pack capacity is 82.8kWh, the energy density is 161Wh / kg, and the NEDC cruising range is 520km (323miles). In the fast charge mode, it takes 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.
Denza X plug-in hybrid version (PHEV) is powered by a PHEV system composed of a 2.0T engine and two permanent magnet synchronous motors. Two of the motors are located on the front and rear axles respectively, and the maximum power are 110kW (150Ps) and 180kW (245Ps). The maximum integrated power of this system is 431kW (586Ps), the integrated peak torque is 950N · m, which makes the car’s acceleration time within 4.3s. The battery pack has a capacity of 20kWh, it can achieve 81km and 100km range in pure electric mode.
