On May 9th, CHERY‘s sub-brand EXEED released a new mid-sized electric SUV, the Sterra ET officially debuted, offering a total of 8 models with prices ranging from RMB 189,800 to RMB 319,800 (US$26,300 – US$44,285). EXEED is Chery’s high-end brand, and the Sterra ET is positioned as a mid-to-large-sized SUV with two power options: extended-range and battery powered EV. Based on the E0X electric platform, Sterra ET’s pure electric model features a global 800V high-voltage system and comes equipped with CDC electromagnetic damping system plus air suspension. The extended-range model has a pure electric range of 200km and a comprehensive range of over 1,518km with WLTC fuel consumption of 5.2L/100km. The EV model offers a maximum range of 760km, with 30% to 80% SOC charging completed in 9 minutes.

In terms of appearance, Sterra ET adopts a minimalist design, eliminating the traditional grille design to highlight the EXEED Sterra brand logo. The upper part features integrated daytime running lights, while the lower part consists of segmented headlights and a light language system. The lower-spec models lack the light language system, replaced by decorative design. The top of the car is equipped with a laser radar.

On the side, the car has a rounded and full-bodied profile with dynamic waistlines, frameless doors, and hidden door handles, common features in modern new energy vehicles, creating a commanding presence. The dimensions of the car are 4955/1975/1698mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 3000mm.

At the rear, the design remains sleek with a continuous flow of taillights containing 262 LED bulbs, providing exquisite illumination. The rear bumper employs a glossy black finish to avoid a dull appearance and enhance the overall appeal. The Sterra brand logo is also prominently displayed at the rear, along with a spoiler.

Moving to the interior, it continues the minimalist design philosophy, incorporating the “Welcome Home” ultra-comfortable home design concept. The light-colored style creates a warm and simple atmosphere, with high-end environmentally friendly materials such as marble slate, real wood trim, and Microfiber ultra-fine fiber. The steering wheel features a unique style with a flat bottom and two spokes, resembling concept car designs, with buttons arranged in a scroll layout for simplicity.

The centerpiece of the dashboard is a striking 15.6-inch 2.5K central control screen featuring Lion AI’s intelligent home voice system, offering 20 smart home scenarios including car-home connectivity, baby mode, pet mode, and karaoke mode, adding a homely touch to the Sterra ET. The dashboard breaks away from the traditional fixed design, featuring an electrically adjustable secondary instrument panel and a “star bar”, along with double-layer storage compartments and warm ambient lighting, providing passengers with a seamless sense of comfort. Additionally, both voice and physical buttons can be used to achieve front and rear row electric adjustment, further enhancing interior space flexibility. The entire car supports control of over 1800 voice functions.
In terms of power, Sterra ET EV offers two powertrain options: single motor and dual motor. The single motor version has a maximum power of 230kW, peak torque of 425N·m, and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds and 6.6 seconds, with CLTC pure electric ranges of 625km and 760km respectively. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive version, Pro, has a maximum power of 353kW, maximum torque of 663N·m, and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds, with a CLTC pure electric range of 540km. The Ultra version has a maximum power of 413kW, maximum torque of 691N·m, accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a CLTC pure electric range of 655km.

Sterra ET EV models are equipped with CATL’s FLP ultra-fast charging battery, including a 77kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and a 100kWh ternary lithium battery. With the global 800V platform, under normal temperature conditions of 25°C, it can travel 400 kilometers in 10 minutes of charging. Charging from 30% to 80% for the 77kWh battery takes only 9 minutes, while for the 100kWh battery it takes 15 minutes. In extremely cold environments of -20°C, charging from 20% to 80% takes only 24 minutes, effectively solving the problem of electric vehicle replenishment for users in northern regions.
Sterra ET extended-range version will be equipped with the SQRH4J15B 1.5T turbocharged engine, with a comprehensive system power of 195kW, comprehensive torque of 324N·m, and 0-100km/h acceleration of 7.8 seconds. The extended-range version is equipped with a 32kWh lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL, with a CLTC condition pure electric range of 200km and a CLTC comprehensive range of 1518km, with 30% to 80% charging taking 28 minutes.
The new car adopts a front double wishbone independent suspension and a rear five-link independent suspension, along with CDC electromagnetic damping system plus air suspension. Laser radar enables precise prediction of road conditions ahead. When speed bumps are detected, the suspension damping can be adjusted continuously in milliseconds. The air suspension can actively adjust the suspension height with 7 adjustable levels, with an adjustment range of up to 100mm. When the vehicle speed reaches 120km/h, it automatically lowers the body height
