The domestic “Big G” contender, previously known as the Beijing 81, has been officially named the Beijing 81VJ. The name is derived from “Victory Journey,” symbolizing a triumphant expedition and honoring the brand’s deep-rooted military heritage. The vehicle’s design has been finalized, and it has now entered the quality refinement phase. The pre-sale price range is set between 200,000 and 250,000 RMB (approximately $27,600 – $34,500 USD), placing it in direct competition with the Tank 300, though the 81VJ offers larger dimensions as a mid-to-large SUV.

In terms of exterior design, the Beijing 81VJ features a classic five-hole front grille with integrated LED lighting elements. The headlights follow the “Heavenly Circle and Square Earth” design philosophy. The hood is equipped with functional vents, adding to its aggressive stance.

The vehicle measures 4,845mm in length, 2,050mm in width, and 1,980mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810mm, and features a 6-seat configuration. The body lines are sharp and rugged, complemented by flared wheel arches that emphasize its off-road character. It rides on 22-inch wheels wrapped in 305-width tires, paired with high-performance brakes featuring six-piston calipers in the front and four-piston calipers in the rear.

The rear adopts a classic side-hinged dual-door design and includes an external storage box for off-road tools or outdoor gear. The square taillight clusters complement the front headlight design. The rear bumper adds visual weight and includes a tow hitch.
Under the hood, the Beijing 81VJ utilizes an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain. It features a 1.5T range extender with a maximum power output of 138kW, paired with a CATL ternary lithium battery pack. It offers a WLTC-rated pure electric range of 145km and a top speed of 170km/h.
