The updated Volkswagen ID. UNYX 06 has officially debuted, bringing a series of strategic enhancements to the Chinese market. As a mid-cycle refresh, the most significant change lies in the adoption of Volkswagen’s new CEA electronic and electrical architecture, specifically developed for local consumers. While the exterior retains its familiar coupe-SUV silhouette, the interior has undergone a comprehensive overhaul, complemented by improvements to both powertrain performance and range. The new model is expected to hit the market later this year.

In terms of design, the ID. UNYX 06 continues to feature its signature “wind-breaking” aesthetic, highlighted by all-weather LED matrix headlights and an illuminated golden logo. The coupe-like profile remains sleek and athletic. Volkswagen has introduced a new “Night Blue” exterior paint option, joining the existing Shadow Black, Moon Silver, and Curtain Blue colors.

The vehicle measures 4,663mm in length, 1,860mm in width, and 1,617mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,766mm. Notable exterior upgrades include standard dual-layer acoustic glass for the front side windows and 20-inch “Shadow Blade” sport wheels, with an optional 21-inch “Obsidian Blade” set available. Additionally, rear disc brakes are now standard across the lineup.

Inside, the cabin has been completely redesigned with a minimalist approach. It features a new “Gen X” steering wheel and a sophisticated multi-screen setup: a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15-inch central touchscreen, a 10-inch front passenger entertainment screen with privacy protection, and a 27-inch AR-HUD that seamlessly integrates navigation and driver-assistance data onto the road ahead. Powered by a MediaTek 8676 chip and the new VW OS with a customizable HMI, the system now includes an upgraded AI large language model (Zhipu Qingyan) with four-zone voice recognition. A 9-speaker audio system is standard, with an optional 12-speaker UNYX SOUND HiFi system available.

The cabin also features new integrated sport seats designed for improved ergonomics. Higher-trim models offer premium Microfiber suede upholstery with parametric 3D laser-engraving details.

On the technology front, the ID. UNYX 06 now comes standard with Highway NOA (Navigate on Autopilot). The pure vision version supports highway navigation, while the LiDAR-equipped variant will offer advanced City NOA capabilities (expected for delivery by the end of 2026). Memory parking is also standard across all models.

Performance-wise, the entry-level model sees its battery capacity increased from 54kWh to 60kWh, boosting the CLTC-rated range from 426km to 528km. The electric motor’s peak torque has been upgraded from 310 N·m to 350 N·m, while the maximum power output remains at 170kW. Further details regarding additional powertrain configurations have yet to be disclosed.
