The declaration information shows that the manufacturing enterprise is “Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.” and the type of battery energy storage device is “lithium iron phosphate battery”. According to previous reports, the lithium iron phosphate batteries provided to Tesla by CATL are only used for both Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y China version, the supply period is from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2022.
At present, the Tesla Model 3 China version uses the NCM (nickel cobalt manganese) 811 cylindrical ternary lithium battery from LG. due to the cost of the lithium iron phosphate battery is lower than the cost of the ternary lithium battery, the Model 3 with lithium iron phosphate battery is replaced for reducing the cost of car manufacturing.
