Baidu Robotaxi project “Apollo Go” made its debut publicly on Baidu AI Developers Conference on July 3. It is reported that the project started in Changsha and will take the lead in helping Changsha complete the “urban level” intelligent upgrade and build the country’s largest L4 autopilot team.
Previously, Baidu had obtained 45 Changsha “Manned Test” automatic driving licenses, which provided policy guarantee for the official landing of unmanned taxis. Up to now, Baidu’s L4 level autopilot city road test mileage has officially exceeded 2 million kilometers, the test vehicles have reached 300 vehicles, which have been tested in 13 cities.
The first L4 passenger car front-loading production line built by Baidu and FAW Hongqi has already officially put into production, the first batch of L4-class self-driving passenger cars will be the first to land in Changsha China, which has been scale tested and starts to operate. At the same time, the unmanned taxi project “Apollo Go” also debuted. Li Zhenyu, Baidu’s vice president and general manager of the Intelligent Driving Business Group (IDG), showed the “Apollo Go” taxi Baidu smart applet interface.
Li Zhenyu introduced that the Apollo 5.0 mass production limited area autopilot is on schedule, including the Apollo open platform and the Apollo Enterprise Edition. The new open data pipeline of the Apollo open platform enables developers to complete the dynamic calibration of a car in 30 minutes through the cloud, and 100 calibrations can be completed in one week. Apollo Enterprise Edition will release both new unmanned taxi, intelligent information control mass production solutions, focusing on upgrading the three main capabilities of driverless minibus, autonomous parking, and small car OS.
